I have long hair now- The length is a few inches above my waist (referencing from the back ) I have had long hair for the longest time from grade school till I was in college. After graduation i cut real short and have loved just above the shoulder lengths or even shorter in summer. I just had this long hair for about 2 years now and it's at that length where i like it esp that i can do a lot with it and when curled would just be the appropriate length for dates and special occasions. Like you i don't put up my hair that often too, but i love it as i can always sway it to either side of my shoulder when it's hot.

I like your hair that length. You look pretty with a long hair  If you're not so sure yet, maybe just cut a few inches and see how you feel about it.

hair grows back so cut it to just over the shoulders. And donate it. That will remove the guilt as they make wigs for people with cancer.

Here is my take on this. You should cut it. Take a leap of faith. It is not like it's your arm. It grows back. If you don't like it then grow it back. I think if your hair is by your hips it is to long anyways. I am a fan of the pony tails though so I am bias. Not long pony tails though. Just ones that sway a little. I know it must be gut wrenching though because your not sure what to do. I had long hair for years. I cut it off and now I might grow it back. Like people said though it's what your comfortable with. Not us.

I know it isn't my arm, but it took years of growing, and I am not getting any younger. In fact I am reaching closer to the 40 mark. So if I was going to cut it...it wouldn't be very short anyway. About 5 inches. But even that to me is alot, when you are so used to long hair. I love my hair, but it is the fact that like I said..I am getting older. This is why it is such a dilemma for me. I want to cut it, but I don't lol

I think everyone goes by appearance. But my hair has always been longish. Just got longer, and now I am at the stage where I love it long, but it is a nightmare too

Everyone to a point is worried about there looks. It is human nature. It is also human nature to be afraid of change. Some embrace it. Other recoil from it. Like I said think back afew years ago when it was not that long. Take a look at some picture you had from years past. It might give you a better idea of what you want to do. Also it never hurts to go vist a hair dresser. They could give you an idea of what they could do with your hair or what might suit you better. Talking with a hair dresser does not mean you have to get in the chair that day. Opinions are important. Myself it is different. I grew my hair for acouple years then one day I woke up and shaved my head. No regrets !

I never trust hairdressers. They tend to go by what they would like. Not what they think would be good for you. Plus, My hairdresser won't let anyone else touch my hair, because she don't want mine ruined lol. She would tell me to keep my hair long.
The only time my hair was short, was when I was at school...and I look at them photos and cringe. So I won't be going that short, that's for sure. Maybe just take the few inches off at a time, to a suitable length for me. But knowing me. I will chicken out again lol.
