I agree, I remember watching a football game at a BWW and seeing these two 300lb guys who weren't the best groomed specimens or naturally very handsome leaning over the booth mocking this poor overweight woman for being a "cow" and "ugly" and HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (because being overweight is hilarious I guess). It made me so mad, I wanted to launch an attack but my ex stopped me saying they'd just rip on me too. I don't think I have ever been angrier in public.

Obviously those guys and guys like them are incredibly insecure and small minded, but do they not see the irony???

all i can say is.....if you're big be proud,be proud to be big....you're not the only one....as the old saying goes 'live in the skin you're in'

I have gathered that a goodly portion of our membership is somewhat young. That means that a certain youthful vigor is seen on the faces and in the stature of them. This is directed at you gals:

In some years, you will look in the mirror, one morning, and be agast at such things as crows' feet, a line or two in the brow, some saggage and baggage here and there. You will also be shocked to see strands of grey in your hair.

However, by then, you will have born and raised your kids or, at least, are well on your way to have them ready to leave the nest. This means that you will have spent sleepless nights with a fussy child. You will have worried about them when they went to school for the first time. You will have seen them grow and blossom into young adults. You will have suffered the jitters as they took the car keys for the first time and left the house for the evening. You will have bandaged many "owies", and tried to soothe troubled egos. You will have listened to their tales of being mistreated by fellow students, by teachers, and by the general populace of your community.

Those little "pouches", those lines, those grey hairs are badges of honor. Wear them proudly! Who gives a flying fuck if you're letting some of it show from under a bikini, or keeping it hidden beneath layers of clothing? If someone does, they do not deserve to be in your presence. You will have become a veteran. Just as veterans of military service deserve our admiration, respect, and honor, so will you.

Those "baby rolls" that some feel shouldn't be exposed are badges of months of carrying a child in your belly. Late nights, early mornings, and in between, changing diapers, feeding, rocking, nurturing, are the hidden stories those rolls tell. Flaunt 'em, Girls! You deserve to shine with pride!

My mom is 79 hrs old. She keeps house for herself and Dad. She prides herself in her flowers and plants, cans a few quarts of pickles, does sewing and alterations, and is very active with church related stuff. She wouldn't have worn a bikini, even back when you would have seemed it appropriate, but, I digress. She came from farming background. She knows how to build a haystack, milk a cow, drive a tractor, he'll! She drove the UPS truck out of our yard when the driver got it stuck in the snow! In her prime, she'd have worked your ass into the ground, and made lunch before noon. After lunch, while you were whimpering about your tired muscles and sore back, she'd have been back on top of an alfalfa stack and had it stacked out before the next bicker full of hay came back in. She'd have come in, milked cows, and had supper non the table before six.
Yep! She looks her age, almost, but she EARNED every damned line and grey hair. She don't need to show her boobs or legs for the rest of us to know what she's made of.

Apparently you have never set foot in family court.

I happen to agree with what you've written, but in today's "modern" society, what you've written about is not the norm IMO.

That said, my wife just sweated the last three days with me clearing up some trees before it got too hot during the middle of the day, and more than happy with the woman I've married:D

I haven't read all comments now, but @topic:

I really don't get it why some men think they can judge over not perfectly looking women, while they themselves aren't the purest feast for the eyes. (And no, this doesn't straightly refer to Dana, but to all men who think they can do such naff utterances about women which don't look perfect...)

Dana, you don't need to speak out loud every of your thoughts and tastes and preferences - that is what one calls 'tactfulness'.

And don't think that you somehow hit me with that topic: I am very slender and can afford to wear bikinis (though I don't know what it will be after having born a child). BUT I don't like such respectless attitudes towards others!

Exactly! Look in a mirror first. I think CG said it in anther thread. Women are much more forgiving of a man's appearance. Most men (not all) want women to look like the fake air-brushed ones they see in magazines. Most women (not all) will accept a man for exactly who he is.

Comments like like the OP made is why there are so many young girl's with anorexia and also why they dress like sex objects.

I really need to stop opening this thread.

Let's face it, there has always been a double standard in our society.

It's always been easier for an older man who may not be so great looking to pick up a younger hotty toddy than an older woman to pick up a young stud muffin. That said, with today's society and women making progress in the work force, things are SLOWLY changing in the woman's favor.

:24: my moms mans a UPS driver.. Sorry thought it was comical.

That's all you got out of my post? Good grief! :surrender

Thank-ya, CG, but, I ain't all that.

I was, greatly, surprised when a gal I went to high school with (first time we'd seen each other in 31 years) said she found me handsome. I kept looking for her white cane and seeing eye dog, for gosh sakes!

However, I learned something over the years. When I was younger, in my 20's, I eyeballed the hotties but noticed one thing. They hung around with the guys who had money. I also began to take a good close look. I bet if you'd have scraped all the war paint off and let their hair go flat, they'd scare the shit out of a mud fence. The "plain janes", on the other hand, were generally nice girls. They knew how to appreciate it when you did something nice for them. They weren't self centered. They'd just as soon have a burger and fries at Mc Donald's as steak and shrimp at some fancy joint.

I learned something else, I learned to look a girl in the eye. The saying that "The eyes are the window to the soul" is absolutely true. Many of them self centered babes have dead, cold eyes. They can smile and be nice because they want to, not because they are. "Plain Janes", for the most part are warm people. They really care and will be there for you when you need them, not just when there's something in it for them.

OTT, BTW, but, I notice the gals who've posted pics in this site have really warm eyes!

I'm shocked... Dana posted something offensive without thinking about how people might have reacted to it.

I just find it funny that everyone here has seen someone who they thought shouldn't be wearing "_______" fill in the blank, yet are acting all outraged. Hell, I was at the beach all day and saw several that had no business wearing what they were.
And as far as judging others and what they are wearing... us men can't even hold a candle to you women. Some of the cruelest comments I ever heard came from women.

But there's a difference...and that is that most of us know to keep those thoughts inside our heads where they belong. Not ALL of us mind you (obviously)....but most of us do.

You are correct. I wouldn't dare say anything out loud or to the person, that would make me an asshole.

But keeping that simple concept in mind... go reread the OP. He wasn't speaking to or about anyone in particular. It was just a general statement... Hell, I've made general statements like that before, we all have.

So the outrage in this thread just seems way over the top... you know, the whole glass house thing came to mind for some of the reactions I read.
