Am I the only person who is severely bummed out over this franchise ending? The first movie came out when I was 13, the books when I was 9. It's going to be weird not having any new Harry Potter stuff come out.

I'm pretty sure with the amount of money it has made there will be people chomping at the bit to flog the idea to death... Some sort of when Harry Met Sally thing, Ron's Roadtrip etc...

Though having never read or seen one I'll not be missing :p

The first three installments were enjoyable.
Afterwards I lost interest.
With the series ending(possibly),I think the producers and writer should aim at a different direction.
...A possible rename/revamping.

I read a Harry Potter book once, but that's the sum total of my experience with the wizard. :)

I am glad they are ending. Not because I didn't like them (I loved them), but if they were carried on any further they would get very lame very quickly.

Finish while you're ahead and all that :)

I got the first book not long after it came out in the UK and I read the last one whilst I was 6 or 7 months pregnant so I really did grow up with it.

But I've never liked the films. I don't think any (except Prisoner of Askaban) have really captured the magic of the book.

That does make sense. It's still sad.

There are too many movie series that keep trying to drag it out and that just gets old.

I still wonder if JK is done?. She left it at their kids. Plenty of stories can still be told - if she chooses to go there.

PBBB heard that they're changing the end from Neville to Harry - they better not:mad It's karmatic that Neville gets to do it dammit!

I started reading them before I let PBBB read them. I was hooked w/the first and flew through the series w/my brat reading right behind me.

Tho we rewatch the movies, I think the books were way better than the movies. But who has the budget to ever stay true to the book? Look what they did to The Stand....... That could have been so much better.

Harry Potter has been an entertaining ride. I'd love to see how their kids progress through Hogwarts.

Same here. I started reading the series when I was 9 or ten, and saw the first movie when I was 12. The books and movies were stretched out too much and I lost interest over time. Honestly, there's like a 10 year span between when the first and last movie were released.

My son read them first. We all read the books. The movies have been enjoyable watching the characters and actors grow up. I am looking forward to watching the last installment. We own all of the movies.

It doesn't bother me that the movies are so spread out. I'd rather them do that and keep the actors than get new actors or try (and fail) to pass them off as aging.

The best part of Harry Potter is clearly Ian Brown's cameo (about 4 seconds in the Prisoner of Azkaban). I have to say I've read all the books because generally speaking I am more of a reader than a watcher. But I have been to see a couple. I guess the first couple of them were more enjoyable to me because I was only 14/15/16 at the time, and really the movies convey (to me anyway) a darker edge. I guess because it's easier to make films darker than a book because you yourself have to give it it's edge when reading, when watching it's done for you. Anyway after the fourth one (I think) I just stopped going to see them and watched them online. I don 't know why either, maybe it was the thought of having to be in the company of other people and particularly kids for nearly 3 hours, maybe it was the thought that I was just old to be watching a film that wasn't really aimed at me, maybe it was.....I dunno, wanting to be alone so I could form a clearer criticism of the film. But yeah I have read all the books and enjoyed them.
