Wait, the more I think about it the more I wonder why you have a Kevlar Vest in a woman's size. Something you're not telling us Darrell?!

Nothing interesting to share. One of my exes gave it to me because she knows I like stuff like that. It sits in the closet untouched. I have male Kevlar for me. :p

That's what I was thinking.

I really want to watch some zombie movies now. I've only been watching children's movies lately and they are starting to drive me a bit crazy, I keep singing songs and expecting woodland animals to come and dress me in the morning.

I really like that film.

I keep meaning to buy the book but I just forget. I have a list of about 300+ books to buy (or at least to read) in a little notebook in my bag but I keep getting distracted. Or my friend gives me tons of books to read.

At the moment it's some awful vampyre series. I don't want to hurt her feelings so I'm reading them all even though I think they are utter shit.

They're called The House of Night.

They feature teenage vampyres (see how different they are from normal vampires with their different spelling?) which the author got her teenage daughter to help her write (to make it authentic). But it just sounds awful. Like a 80 year old gran trying to be hip and down with those funky teens. And like, the author is ok with gays (she mentions it every 5 minutes) because gays are so cool with shopping and crying all the time. And apparently gays enter rooms like tornados and wirlwinds but she doesn't really comment on how straight characters enter or walk.

And the vampyres are all Pagan but it's a bastardised form that's more laughable than anything else. And all the Christians are cunts who can't accept anyone and are totally to blame for everything wrong with the world.

I'm going to finish them. I just want to know now if any of the characters can redeem themselves or if the author will actually get around to making a plot somewhere in 8 novels.

I've never read anything so bad in my life.

Most of the 3 books I've read so far go like this

Gossip gossip gossip.

The gay character does something stereotypically gay. The author likes gays and has no problem with them.

Someone gets called a ho

The main character does something whoreish (like having sex with a teacher) but that's like totally ok because she's the main character so she isn't a whore at all.

Some more gossip

Pagan ritual.

Gay character does something gay again. Did you know the author is ok with gays? No? Well she is. It's only mentioned once or twice in every single chapter (which is roughtly 10-15 pages long).

Some vague pop culture reference.

Gossip

The main character goes to class and learns that Christians = bad misogynist cunts. Pagans = utterly fantastic, can do no wrong, everyone famous is a Pagan vampyre. If you aren't Pagan, you're probably a cunt.

Main character makes out with one of her 3 boyfriends. But that's no whorish. But you are a whore if you have blonde hair or wear flattering clothes or dance.

Some texting happens in AWFUL text speak.

Some pagan ritual happens.

Someone dies

OH MY GOD Christians are like so fucking awful.

The gay character says a 2 syllable word like atonement. No one knows what he just said, so he explains in a gay way. Did you know he was gay? Well he is because the author has no problem with gays.

50 pages of someone being saved (normally one of her 3 boyfriends. Well in the 3rd book one of them is killed by those pesky Christians who are always going around murdering and shit like that) by using Pagan rituals

Smiles, hugs and gossip.

They're only short which is good. I've been reading them in less than a day.

I've never seen such propaganda in my life. I'm not in any way religious but I really resent the picture of Christians and Pagans she's portraying. Not to mention gay men are always acting like hormonal women or that kissing a guy is whorish but sleeping with a teacher is ok. Infact, doesn't everyone lose their virginity to an English teacher who writes them a stalkerish haiku?

She could have done some research but I guess she was too busy writing a shit series.

What gets me is the author is a teacher apparently :willy_nilly::willy_nilly:

Really? that's a bit worrying:eek

Everyone seems to be jumping on the vampire bandwagon these days, getting a bit fed up of them now tbh

According to wikipedia she is an ex-English teacher. Though the author biography in the book makes it sound like she is still teaching (and my friend only bought the books fairly recently).

She also seems to have written many many Paganism type books. And as she's been divorced 3 times, I'm guessing that's why so many of the male characters are portrayed as such pigs.
