I contend we are not. Things are made cheaply and not designed to last. We don't fix a computer or an appliance we buy a replacement and dispose of the old.
I threw away a 55 gallon drum of 8-track tapes when they became obsolete. Cassette tapes same fate.
I still have some LP's but no way to play them especially the 78's which are not designed for a diamond needle.
I had a VCR and a lot of tapes. No more those are obsolete too.
TV's well a decree came from on high and suddenly analog was no longer available. The converters were a joke and most bought new TV's to get the HD quality. Where did all the TV's go? Landfills most likely.
Most of what we buy today is designed to break so we can purchase the new better product, also designed to break and be replaced.
It is my opinion we are "green" just by words and not by deeds.
