People who want to push their religions onto people need to learn that harassing people is not the way to do it. It completely boggles my mind how these people either don't care or don't understand that. I'm cool with your religion, I'm cool with God (we hang out a couple times a week... excellent foozball player), and I'm cool with your right to be religious so long as nobody is getting hurt.

What I'm not cool with is you constantly going to peoples doors, even when you're told not to. Today this dude and his wife come up and I take the pamphlet because I'm nice and because the guy said that he always brings this for my dad. So I'm like, okay whatever.

Then my dad comes home and he tells me that he told this guy not to come back.

I get that you want to spread the word, but you gotta understand that it'll turn people off. Not only that, but your version of spreading the word is ancient. It harkens back to the days when it was okay to force shit onto people. It's time to adapt to the times, it's 2011.

That's right, I'm talking to YOU. No, not you. You.

I am so very lucky I never experience this. Sorry you do.
People try to sell us frozen steaks but that's about it. I would lose my damn mind if I were a homeowner someone repeatedly walked onto my property with the intention to talk about religion. ARGGhhh how rude and sickeningly entitled.

I suppose I would just say: "please cross my house off your itinerary in the future, thank you".

I'm usually polite, but make it clear I don't want any literature or to talk and that I am in fact very busy.

I don't know if its always the same people that come back, doesn't seem to be.

I don't mind those that take "Thank You, but no" straight away. Those that refuse to accept that I do not wish to speak w/them end up getting the door closed in their faces. Those types are rare tho.

When they're out in the middle of Summer I give them credit for dealing w/oppressive weather while spreading their word in their Sunday best. I have noticed they'll tend to have a van. Canvas a few houses, pile in the van (a/c!!) and move on down the street. :thumbup

Back when I was a teenager I used to love answering the door w/my snarling Dobie at my side and telling them I worshiped the devil under the full moon just to see their faces.:ninja:24: My stepmom made me stop as she feared they'd burn a cross on our yard:eek She's a good Catholic. I was a rebellious teen. :D

I find those w/an overwhelming desire to convert others to their beliefs curious. I certainly wouldn't push my beliefs on others. But some have absolutely no problem doing so. It's like they think they'll earn brownie points w/God if they convert souls.... "I got four more for ya today Lord"... hehehehehehehehehe....... overzealous much?

I do wish that more of these type of people would adopt a live & let live attitude. That doesn't seem to happen w/the fundamentalists of the Big3 religions. Tho, I can't remember ever having a Jew or Muslim come to my door spreading their truth. Perhaps it's just the Latter Day Saints & Jehovah Witness that feel the need?

We had it three or four times after we moved in, not at all since.

People know where the church is. If they want to go, they'll go - I don't think anyone gets converted by a two minute conversation on a doorstep.

We don't have them very often. I just say I am busy, take their pamphlet and shut the door. What I seem to get more is automated phone calls from politicians. Those are getting tedious and I don't appreciate it. Bad enough to get phone solicitors but automated phone solicitors really irks me. Can't even hollar at 'em!

I am going to answer the door naked. I will be weearing nothing but a sombrero, and holding a pale and shovel for the beach. That should scare them off!!!

Although, this is San Francisco. It might encourage them to stop by again. Lulz.

I was raised Mormon. Missionaries and Jehovah's Witnesses are always at war with one another, I think, to see who can pass out more Watchtower pamphlets and Books of Mormon. -________________________-

I left when I turned 18. My parents are still after me to come back, my mom mostly. Actually, all 6 of us (my siblings and I) left, then one came back and now she's got all this crazy hope. lol

I used to enjoy going to Priesthood meetings, and Wednesday night Scouts. All we did in our Priesthood meetings was BS, and Wednesday night Scouts all we did was shoot hoops. Haha.

LOL Sounds about like all of the guys' meetings. No, us women were the more "spiritual" ones that had to learn how to sew at camp. lol All of the youth I grew up with have all left the church except 3 or 4.

Most of those who are door knockers are of the mistaken belief that you earn your way into heaven. Cultish is the word you are looking for. My worst experience with them was when I had young children and they wished to ring my doorbell during my children's naptime. Not the way to get on my good side.

I never cared for the religion behind the church, but I liked the people. Most of them. :D

If they come on weekends i can never find the door, which is good for them as they would not want to talk to me
