The strangest thing I ever ate was Turtle Chowder. :eek
I'm a lover of Chowder, so, I dunno if it was :yuk because it was mind over matter, or, if it was :yuk because it was?
I can tell ya this much, though. I won't try it again. :ninja

Does it taste like duck? Or maybe chicken?![]()
I tried the crispy fried grasshoppers and worms from a street in Thailand. Actually very uneventful, tasted like nothing. Like a cheetoh with no cheese or salt. Bleh. Couldn't bring myself to go for the roaches on the same cart, though.
The nastiest thing I've ever tasted was this cheese we bought for the restaurant once, just because it sounded so bizarre. They make it by slaughtering a suckling goat minutes after it feeds, then removing the stomach with milk intact and hanging to dry for 60 days. It comes still in the dried up stomach which you cut away to get the cheese. When you first taste it, it's actually quite rich and silky, but after about 15 seconds you get smacked with this intensely horrid after taste of stomach acid and bile. It was literally like you had thrown up in your mouth and couldn't get the taste out.
And we paid $90 for 1 pound of this.
Same here chowder is my favorite soup. But how did u eat it without knowing. For sure if you were at a restaurant you would have to say what you wanted. Just curious!![]()

Tang...uke:
Tastes like pidgeon.
I had it in a pie with other ingredients, so I guess I would gave to say a bit more chicken like than duck.
I dont like duck
I knew it was Turtle Chowder.
Didn't order it in a restaurant... a chef friend had made it in his home. None of us died from it... and, to my dismay, there were people who ate all of theirs! :willy_nilly:
I wouldn't know, not from here.only ate that one my Dad tricked me into eating.
And I saw the cooks at a vietness restaurand in Kingston Ontario trying to catch pigeons behind their place :24: not so urban perhaps.
That place has the best ginger chicken/pigeon :24:
Pidgeon people are probably ok with. But with cat, rat, dog those are pets. So it might not be so pleasent if you knew. :yuk
And you did that willingly? I simply am not man enough.
More like a hazard of the profession
I TRY to expand my horizons and taste everything. There is a huge world full of ingredients. But there are more than a few that have stretched my limits for sure.
Not so okay with ones around the city I bet.
I don’t mind what I am eating so long as I don’t get sick and it tastes good.

I try to give everything a try at least once, unless the smell is not appealing.
