of course i could post it on a relevant forum and find out in minutes but this way is more fun

I've thought, too, but as the Eu. Paper Wasp doesn't have this yellow mouth and moreover, yellow feelers, I've thought that it can't be the one that skyblue has taken a picture of. *scratches head*

I believe this to be a paper wasp (Polistes dominula) perhaps a queen?

I went on google and I found a similar looking wasp which had the name: Ectemnius Lituratus

But the more I stare at the two pictures the less sure I am that they look alike.

How big was the wasp?
