I am SO fucking mad right now!! I just got done taking my last exam for the semester, and my adviser sends me an e-mail. According to him I have all B's and one D. UMMMM, EXCUSE ME??? I don't effin think so!! I've had a 4.0 for the last 5 semesters!! Well, he sends me this list of assignments that I have supposedly missed this semester. Once again, NO I DON'T THINK SO!! So I politely respond that not only did I turn those assignments in, but I still have the submission history for them all. So he asks to see them, and I send them to him, to which he replies "Well, I don't know what to tell you, I don't have them. You must have submitted them incorrectly, so they don't count." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!? Oh at this point I'm beyond pissed off!! It's not my fault you lost them!! I am clearly showing you that they were turned in, on time, and that you received them!!! WTF!!! So basically he's saying that because he can't find them, I'm shit out of luck, and my A for this class is now a D, which turns my perfect 4.0 into something like a fucking 3.6 for the semester. :mad:mad:mad:mad How can teachers get away with stuff like this??? I"m set to graduate after next semester!! And a D will not transfer to another college so basically if I want that class to transfer to my 4-year program I have to take the class again!!!!! I'm gonna hurt somebody.

You need to call the Dean or Director of Academic Affairs. That sounds like total BS.

I think it's total BS. But this adviser is also the head of the Criminal Justice Program, which I'm about to graduate from. I'm kind of scared to rock the boat with him because he's the one that's giving me references and personally helping me get my foot in the door with the career I'm starting.

Seems like if you do "A" work and had missed assignments he would have let you know before now at the end of the semester.

I would gather all your faculty friends and really bend on their collective shoulders

It's just so frustrating. I missed almost a week's worth of assignments because of the separation between my bf and I. I was in transition from my home to my sister's home, so it was hard for me to adjust. But my instructors all assured me they would work with me and allow me to turn in the assignments late for full credit. They lied. I was given some partial credit on some, and now my adviser is saying they don't have them at all?? UGH!!

I agree. I had noticed in my grade book there were a few missing grades, but when I questioned him about them he said that they just hadn't gotten around to putting all the grades in yet.

Go over his head. If you don't stand up now then you will never pull ahead, school is every bit a life experience and if you don't take the necessary steps now you're doomed in the "real world"

I think you need to meet with him in person if you can.

He's back where I'm from, I'm at my sister's which is over 4 hours away. I could never get there before Monday, which is the last day to put grades in before the end of the semester.

It's not that I'm afraid to stand up to him, I'm not. But he's been putting in a lot of effort to connect me with some powerful people in the probation and parole offices where I'm from. I'm afraid if I piss him off all that will disappear.

That's total BULLSHIT... I agree with everyone else. Though I wouldn't be cautious and I'd rip heads.

He's already done you a disservice turning your perfect score into a lesser one, for no apparent reason aside from his own incompetence. What favour is he doing you, exactly?

I'd go above his head. Show someone else the same evidence, make sure you've got it all securely saved. There is no way you should be penalised for his mistake.

I can totally understand your rage. This arbitrariness of teachers is one of the points that regularly make me ranting, especially when it means a bad mark.
Hopefully you can cope with it somehow, maybe by talking to the dean as someone has already mentioned in this thread before.
