I don't deny that there will continue to be terrorist attacks even after his death...that would be niave. BUT anytime you take a murderer out of the population, the world becomes a little bit safer. So yes, I believe it is in at least a small way.

No, it's no safer than it was the day before. There are a lot more personnel and elements in play with terrorism than Osama Bin Laden. Is the world a BETTER place because Osama Bin Laden is dead? Absolutely, but not necessarily safer.

With the death of Osama bin Laden does his death make the world a safer place?

Not even close.
Even after you cut the head of the snake off, there is plenty of snake left.
Paybacks will be coming big time. More will die. The only thing unsure is where, when and how.

He's only one man. If all this shit were possible to cut back drastically by just taking out one guy, then the world would be a much simpler place.

What I had to say in another thread...

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that" ~Martin Luther King, Jr.~

Took the words right out of my mouth. Very good quote!

I am relieved that we found UBL. I'm relieved that he is gone. I think the world is a much better place without him in it. However, I think it will be a long time before the world is safer because of it. I'm unbelievably grateful for the sacrifices and achievements our military and the military of the countries that have supported us have made in the battle against terrorism.

To the men and women who serve and have served our country and the countries of our allies, I say thank you. Keep up the good fight!
