Awwwwww, wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, you beat me to it!!!
when i first heard the news i thought "well its about damn time".....but then my brain split apart and started arguing with me about whether or not i should actually believe it
i would like it to be true, and i would like to believe it...my skepticism comes from some simple facts
A) Its damn near impossible for our government to give us the whole truth...if we are given the truth at all. Usually its there spin or what they want us to believe..( i dont think i need to give any examples)
B) 10 years is along time to be chasing someone attached to a dialysis machine in rough terrain
C) Several political figures have been known to use "look-a-likes" and "Body-Doubles" and 10 years is plenty of time for reconstructive plastic surgery...one to look like bin laden...and bin laden to not look like bin laden.
D) The Bin Laden Family were substantial contributors to both Bush's political campaigns (Jr. as well as Sr.)
E) As former head of the CIA, George Bush Sr to this day still receives an intelligence briefing every morning
F) Two dozen members of Osama bin Laden's family were urgently evacuated from the United States in the first days following the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.
im not saying he isn't dead...im not saying he is..all im saying is that i don't trust that the government will ever give us the entire truth about anything if at all
if he is dead,..FANFUCKINGTASTIC!!!,...but unfortunately i don't completely trust my government.
now its time for some of you to call me a "conspiracy theorist","whack-job", "wing-nut" etc...which you are perfectly entitled to

Codrus, the look-alike theory goes out the window w/ the news that he has been dead for a few days and they were awaiting DNA results to confirm his identity. NOW...having said that...a conspiracy-theorist would counter with another theory on faked DNA results or gene mutation.
And, for the record, I wouldn't care if it took us 20 years and a trillion dollars to find and kill him...I'm just glad we did. I find the comment disrespectful, but everyone is entitled to their opinion AND the news obviously isn't going to mean the same thing to people who don't like in the states. Now the hide and seek one...that was funny.

Or were you jumping in with TimCan't please everyone everytime but as it stands I'm happy that the leader of the diabolical plot and a large terrorist group has been taken down finally reguardless of the time and money it took. There's no price for the relief grieving families must feel for a sense of accomplishment that has finally been completed

The comment in and of itself seemed to be disrespectful. It implied that he should've been found in a far shorter time and with less money spent. That the United States was impotent in hunting bin Laden.
As far as my comment goes... I was just saying that Australia had more important things to be doing and spending money on, like banning women with small boobs from porn.
Oh and also the sense of accomplishment for all our troops who willingly enlisted after 9/11, including my roommate, a feeling now that their hard work, determination, and their fallen friends weren't for nothing.
If nothing else respect should be shown for the men and women who dedicated their lives for this moment.

The part of Obama's speech tonight that said that Osama bin Laden had immediately been identified as a threat after 9/11 or something like that didn't ring true to me.
Because in case we all forget, Bush was wanting to in to Iraq pretty heavy handedly for WMD's that didn't exist. Meanwhile, Osama slipped away.
I don't think it makes me a conspiracy theorists when I distrust the US government. I think it makes me smart. To be honest, I don't care tremendously if Osama bin Laden is caught, because to me, he was not the only one responsible for 9/11. He certainly wasn't responsible for all the soliders who died in the Iraq war. To me, there are bigger problems in America right now that could do more harm to our country than some guy on dialysis like polar politics driven by ignorance and the deficit.
Now if they had said they killed Osama and found 9 trillion dollars sitting next to him, THAT would make me happy. Or if politicians could stop being such assholes and talking out their ass and cheating and lying and actually solve a problem, THAT would make me happy.
THAT would restore some of my faith for my country. Finding a man who we at first ignored to pursue our own political agenda in the wrong country ten years and trillions of dollars after the fact is to me, not a victory.
Maybe that makes me stupid, but that's my opinion.

No, I didn't miss it at all. It's also irrelevant. Because the comment was directed towards the United States... that we had spent all this time and money, with the implication that it should've happened far earlier. Effectively saying that the hunt for bin Laden was incompetent and others could have done it more efficiently.
I'm not entirely certain what about the porn comment is difficult to understand. The United States was spending money and resources to find bin Laden, and Australia felt that banning women with small boobs from porn was more important.
Basically, I was making a comment that could be seen as disrespectful as well. An equally idiotic statement.
