My college did that for the kids of faculty and staff members last week, they must have had the date wrong or something.

Whenever I had to go to my mother's job (if there was no school etc.), I always kept myself busy with my Gameboy and the TV that they had in the kitchen. Lucky me. :D

Work is boring for a child but it can be educational. "God I don't want to do what dad does when I grow up."

I don't think I ever went with my mom- when I was younger she was a stay-at-home and occasionally subbed, so we were already there. LOL

Dad did a lot of jobs we couldn't go to, being military and all. We got to visit during the summer, but I don't remember ever going during a Take Your Kid to Work day.

My Daddy worked as a government contractor for the US Coast Guard for my entire life and every year they did Take Your Daughter to Work Day. I went with him every year, and I loved every single minute of it!!

This is something done in the U.S.A.

And Canada. ;)

I love it when the kids come for the day especially when they axe a lot of questions and want to give something a whirl. Unfortunately we can't allow that too much because of the dangers involved with the tools. For some reason the girls are more curious about woodworking than most of the males.

It seems so. They also like rubbing it a lot. :thumbup We had one young gal at work two years ago that wanted to try sanding so we got her set up with a bunch of door panels. She enjoyed it so much she didn't want to go anywhere else for the rest of the day. She was a hoot to work with. It would be real nice if we could get them to push a broom for a while but none ever will. :24:

I vaguely remember going with my mom a couple times when she used to work at a daycare when I was a kid.

I was a stay at home mom while raising my four kids.. :)

When they grew up, and we had a restaurant, the older ones had no choice but to go to work on it.. :p

About 8 years ago, most of the employees kids were at the right age to participate, I don't have kids, but I put together a whole program for them, gave them a little seminar - had a workbook -some games - wrote a song about what we do and then had pizza for lunch. The kids loved it and still talk about it.

Many of them have ended up working here during the summer, boring data entry stuff but we pay really well.
