For the pussification of America. We are having school closure announcements in different parts of the state because the weather people mention wind, rain, hail & tornadoes. When I was in school we went to a land judging competition in a rainstorm and had to outrun a tornado. More times than I can count we sat in the halls with books over our heads until storms blew over. Snow or floods were the only things which closed schools here 35 years ago.

I don't know if the blame for the pussification of America can be wholly laid on any one single group, there are many factors at play.

Fear of being sued means we do everything we can to avoid personal responsibility. That is why there are labels on hair dryers about using them in the shower. Why it takes 4 safety switches be in the proper position before you can start a lawnmower. They do their best to defeat Darwin. Results we get dumber every day.

McDonald's might disagree.

That case was something I actually agreed with - that they should have been sued for it because it was served at a super hot temperature - which it is against the Department of Health to serve liquids that hot because they become "super heated" and can't be cooled.

No liquid served should be able to cause second or third degree burns. There is just no reason to serve liquids that hot.

and are we talking about American's being sue happy or pussified or for everything being so damn expensive because of insurance?

Totally different things.

I am insurance poor. A lot of it is for liability. Back to lawyers. Both suck the life out of life.

I would just like to note that there can never be too many 'closed' school days. I don't care the reason. :)

I was in total agreement with closing the schools today. And with the death toll in Alabama at 25 and rising I think think it was a serious enough situation that was coming at them to warrant what they did.

After the tornadoes that we had a couple weeks ago I'm down for closing schools even if it is a bit premature. That was the scariest thing I have ever seen in my life. And the storm system that is supposed to be coming through here this evening is supposed to be worse than the one that caused all the tornadoes week before last.

They have shut the schools down early twice this month. I think they have burned all of their scheduled weather days. Schools may have to go extra days now.
