Natural Beauty

I'm not ripping on any females but whatever happened to natural beauty? Everything nowadays has to be sculpted, molded plastered and refined and a lotta times women just come out looking plastic.

Women and men alike have been improving their looks artificially for centuries. It's nothing new :)

There will always be people who take it too far and come out looking ridiculous and overdone, but the majority of normal women out there aren't that far from natural. I only know one person who's ever had plastic surgery. Mostly it's just make up and nice clothes.

Although this probably depends a little on your social group. My friends and family are mainly middle class.

Agreed. Granted, I wouldn't consider most of the women in the media to be natural. They have either had plastic surgery or their photos have been retouched or whatever. But in REAL life I think plenty of women can still be considered natural beauties.

I myself am not a fan of make-up. It takes too long to put on and feels icky. However, I don't think the use of make-up makes someone unnatural either as long as it is used properly. I mean, it isn't like it can make someone look completely different. It just highlights different features.

too much reality TV

This, but to expand on it, I think the idea given by the people who both make and star on these shows is that you have to look like that to be beautiful, which isn't strictly true. I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing makeup to enhance a look per se, but you shouldn't have the belief that it's the only way to look beautiful.

too much keeping up with anyone who is on television and emulating their so called "life"

I agree

And too much emphasis that beauty is in the way how one looks not on the internal beauty one has. Superficiality, I daresay :p

I guess it also boils down to lack of self- esteem, lack of contentment and seeking attention to be accepted in society. It's sad :(

Natural beauty is the only beauty I recognize. There's a difference between highlighting your features and putting on so much makeup you lose yourself. At that point, it's more that they have good makeup skillz than beauty. In my opinion at least.

It has nothing to do with societal class. You can be low class and still be fake. Theres a difference in being fake and being high maintenance. You can be a shopper and still be a natural beauty.

Uhm, yeah it does actually. If you're poor, you can't afford all that garbage. You solely mentioned LOOKS. People that don't have money can't pay for surgeries.

But then there are those people who prioritize their money badly i.e spend it on surgeries when they are struggling to pay their bills....

Not to mention the idiots who would take a loan out for such a thing!
