I used to have people that would knock on my door and if i didnt answer would just come right in or turn the door knob so I started locking it during the day even if i was home.
Our door locks itself when you pull it closed. Obviously we can open it from the inside but you need a key if you're outdoors.
But then we live in a house, not an apartment, so maybe it's different for that type of door.

yes... Another recent instance is why i also keep it locked. I had a guy come check my oxygen concentrator... He knocked, I said hold on, he must of heard "come in" or must of thought i was speaking Swahili because as i approached the door i saw him try to turn the knob... Get a clue folks. (not anyone here just people in general)wtf? do you know these people?
It's prob different in Europe. The same here and I don't know anybody who has a door that doesn't lock automatically. Anything else would be...dangerous, especially when you're a woman.

Yes, it is.
I remember, when I was a child that the backdoor of my grandma's house used to be open the whole day and whenever neighbours or friends arrived they could come in. - At current times this wouldn't be possible if you didn't want to risk your life. Sad but true. :-/
I reckon the chances are just the same of being horribley murdered, but all we read and hear about now are the rare cases where it does happen.
