and the book and the water tablets were deemed as least useful....The funny thing is, the exercise does say you get all 15 items - what kind of moron would throw any of it away as unimportant?!![]()

Wouldn't 20 Sq. Ft. Be more like 4' x 5'? Still not a lot of canvas.
TSeeing as its October in the Arctic, there is no daylight for most of the day, and you'll need the flashlight to signal a rescue.
Tell me about it lol.
Anyway, my point is, you have about 48 hours in which to be rescued. After that, chances are you won't be found until you are dead. That's what I have always been told.
I'll get back to you on that....it was more like a press conference after finding out the answers the other day and someone was stuck and determined to discuss the water purification tablets ad nausea...I want to know why he listed the canvas higher than the sleeping bags.
Just to give you a little perspective. 20 sp ft is 2'x5' or 2'6" x 4' barely enough for any type of shelter. A typical sleeping bag has over 20 sq ft of fabric. You can assume from the story that 4-6 people survived, that's 80 -120 sqft of sleeping bags. Tell me how you can keep 4-6 people dry under a piece of canvas that's 2' x 5'...
Pffft, was this just the conclusion of your professor or did he get it out of a survival book?
