I saw a tee up for Buy now for 2 bucks but with a shipping and handling of 20.00 dollars. Are they morons? why not list the dam,n thing for the real price and list the correct shipping?

I think because eBay doesn't get a cut of the shipping cost. So they sell it for regular price, but jack up the shipping, that way they make more money out of the deal.

I think.

 Yeah, eBay has only been charging fees based on the selling price. I believe that's changing, though. Now eBay is going to be charging fees based on the total cost to the buyer, including shipping charges. I know some sellers (honest ones) who aren't too happy about that because it means they will have to make their starting bids higher in order to make a profit.

I heard people sometimes do this because they might get someone who doesn't look at shipping cost and just thinks 'wow a bargain!' buys it, and then is stuck with the shipping that they didn't pay attention to.

That's why they do it. They're not morons, they're just trying to get people to view the item and are banking on the chance that people will bid without looking at the shipping price. Believe it or not, a lot of Ebayers make just as much money off the shipping as they do off the item.

I had some trouble trying to use the ebay shipping calculator because it insisted I didn't need to charge more than a couple of pounds for something, which didn't seem to take into account how much it weighed. I get why they put limits on what you can charge for shipping but it's not very intuitive sometimes if you're trying to be honest.

I don't remember ever having a limit on shipping. If I remember correctly, the site gives you the option to arbritrarily enter a shipping price if you want...the shipping calculator is just to help you out.

I haven't sold anything on Ebay in over a year though.
