The Moon

Has anyone noticed the moon is bigger?

Clear skies will reveal a "super moon" phenomenon on Saturday as the moon reaches its closest point to the Earth for almost two decades. Stargazers will be hoping to see a bigger and brighter moon than normal as it reaches the closest point to the Earth since 1992. But experts say that people will need to look very closely to spot the 0.3% difference.

I just went outside to try and look at it but I can't find the moon :(

It's not bigger, it's nearer than normal.

Interesting!

Loved this from the article:

Looking closely to notice larger objects! ... Well, at least it was funny in my head.

I just looked out my window at the moon. It's very bright. Not quite a full moon but almost. Unfortunately, I don't have the kind of camera that would reveal it's true beauty. In fact, my camera probably would distort any picture I might attempt to take. As I have tried in the past.

I just took a look at it. It looks nice, but it doesn't look any bigger than usual. At least to me. :)

The moon is about 250,000 miles away and 0.3% would make it about 750 miles closer so it probably wouldn't be enough to make it look bigger. I think what they are going on about is the fact that it will be closer combined with being a full moon.
