st patricks day and america/canada(informative)

I'm wearing a shirt that says "Everyone Loves an Irish Girl". :ninja

Just because I'm not full Irish (no idea how much I am) does not mean I can't enjoy the festivities. :p

And Roxi - are you serious? I can't believe people would think you were Irish. Of course, we Americans are pretty damn dumb when it comes to such things. :thumbdown

Didn't we have this same arguement last year???? Lol...

if one more person asks me if I'm enjoying MY peoples heritage one more time though I may snap, I'm bloody English just cause we are parted by a small portion of water and we love to drink does not make it my holiday ... plus half the people who have asked me know damn well I'm pregnant and asked if I ws going to get drunk tonight..... yes I am a bad enough mum that I'm going to go get smashed even though I have a baby inside me cause that's just what the English do... idiots

Note to self- don't ask Roxi if she's Irish :eek

I don't even think they think I'm irish, I think they because I am English that we celerbrate it as our holiday.... worst I think they may think Ireland is part of Britain bwahaha

It is isnt it...well, in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games;):ninja
I celebrate Australia day....thats it. Not 4th of July, or St Patricks day, or Oh Canada day or whatever else....

Oh...and ANZAC day....we let the kiwi's join in on that one and call it theirs too:D

I always thought Ireland was part of Britain. *shrugs*

Not something that would go down well with the Irish lol

The North is, (6 counties) the push has been for unity, but this is hard to accomplish.

Semantics, but northern ireland is not part of britain. It's a part of Ireland - which comprises of two countries, the Republic of Ireland, and Northern Ireland - the latter being part of the UK. :surrender

Not sure where you guys got the idea that Americans run around on St. Patty's Day claiming to be Irish...but we don't. Well some may...but the VAST MAJORITY don't. It's a day to wear green, drink green beer, get shitfaced, and party. I do have Irish in my blood on my dad's side of the family (pretty sure my complexion is proof enough of that one, LOL) but I have never claimed to be Irish simply b/c it's St. Patty's Day. Just as I'm sure you guys don't claim to be Christian's simply b/c it's Christmas. *shrugs*

But you can argue it to the cows come home or you can do what you're SUPPOSED to do tonight and get shitfaced instead.

My brother and I were joking earlier about how the two biggest nationalities in our blood are Irish and German/Austrian. He told me it's no wonder we're prone to drinking and addiction.

My great grandmother traveled over here from Ireland when she was 16 because her parents wouldn't let her marry the guy she wanted to. And my grandfather on the other side of my family was born in Austria and his dad fought in WW2.

I just think of St. Patrick's Day as another excuse to drink. :D Even if I don't drink anymore. lol
