Caught an employee looking at porn today

lol, a netsend would be awesome. I used to send them to problem users at an old job. That is until one of the computer savvy doctors figured out how to send them out and would broadcast to the entire network when he was pissed off at us for something. :24:

:24: ouch. That reminds me of the time I wasn't sure of the syntax and ended up sending it to the whole domain. That would have been near 1500 employees. Luckily it wasn't anything naughty :surrender

So... I talked with our HR person and we agreed not to take it further than the two of us for now. I went and talked to him, showed him the graph that shows that he accounts for over 50% of our total internet usage between Friday and Today and then told him that I was aware that he was visiting some inappropriate websites. He didn't deny it or lie like I half expected him to, and he seemed honestly embarrassed about it. I told him that it won't go any further than our HR person or myself, our boss wouldn't be notified and nothing would go in his file. But, if I discover that he's been at it again, I'm not going to have another choice but to take it to the boss.

So, we'll see what happens.

I would keep watching every move he makes.. He might have an addiction, and that is very hard to break.. if he keeps at it, I'm afraid you or your supervisors will have to suggest he gets some therapy for it, because it will be the only way to help him.
I was a mod in a forum helping people with that type of thing, and have seen the damage any addiction can cause to individuals, their families, jobs, friends, etc.
Good luck and hope everything turns out for the best.

I actually mentioned that as well... we just had these Employee Assistance Program flyers handed out last week... they offer short-term counseling for things like depression, addiction, stress, etc. So I told him that I didn't know his own personal issues or anything, but judging by the extent of time he was spending at work on it, he might very well have a problem, and recommended he consider talking to someone about it.

I'll be paying very close attention to him from here on out as well, now that I finally have the tools necessary to be able to do so.

it wasn't even good porn either. :24:

I'm probably going to go the second route... though I've already blocked his laptop on the firewall, so perhaps he'll get the picture. I'm also working on drafting an internet usage policy since we don't have one.

:24::thumbup I hope you washed your hands after touching his laptop.:ninja:24:
