Creepy!

Toes in the water...

I went outside to take Riley out, and the light for our floor is flickering, but mostly out. It's really creepy. Especially since I live kind of in the ground and I have to go upstairs from outside and then back down to my door. AND there's a big empty space under the stairs that is very well hidden.

I called it in as emergency maintenance but it doesn't fit their definition (flooding, gas odors, no heat/air conditioner when it's a certain temperature), but the way I see it, it's their responsibility to take care of it, and as a female home alone right now, I shouldn't have to walk through a dark enclosed space (with an awesome hiding area) to get to my door.

Think I'll hear back from them?

after what you have been through this week? I am putting my $$$ on a "no"

Maintenance is different from the office staff. They're much better. I've never had someone NOT come out.

I am a little nervous about the Riley situation though. With any luck, it will be one of the guys who's hung out after and chatted during previous repairs. I trust they won't say anything.

I haven't heard anything back, so I peeked out the peep hole (which I have covered with tape). Oh my gosh! It felt like the start of a horror movie!!!

I'll be voicing my complaints to the manager tomorrow. I don't care if they don't consider it an "emergency". The outside lights are their responsibility and should always be functioning, especially at night!

So I got a call this morning, the maintenance guy said he'd be out in a few minutes to fix it.

Several hours pass, the light is still out. So Matt calls and tells them it's a liability and needs to be fixed. She says someone will come out Monday because they've only got one guy and he's out doing emergency repairs. I call right after that and explain my take on it, which is pretty much the same, but I threw in the "it's really creepy" thing, and mentioned that I have an elderly neighbor. So she called the guy. She calls back and tells me that he came out earlier and it wasn't blown so it didn't need fixing. I told her it was very much still out. That was just after the office closed. So she said she'd call him real quick to try and catch him before he leaves. She didn't call me back, which I kind of expected.

But it's been an hour since and there's still no light out there, which sucks, because even though it isn't quite dark yet, it's pitch black right in front of my door.

I'm pissed that they said it would be Monday, I'm pissed he lied about it and that's why it didn't get done, and I'm pissed it's STILL not done. Matt's ready to go buy the bulb and fix it himself and then give them the receipt and tell them they can deduct it off our rent. I told him it was a bad idea, but it does sound very tempting...

I think the guy may have seen the light on landing lit, and not bother going downstairs. And the landing light doesn't reach our floor.

It wouldn't creep me out so much, if there wasn't such a huge area to hide in. Maybe I'm paranoid. But we don't live in a super awesome area, and I'd rather be paranoid than in trouble. And it doesn't bother me so much tonight, because Matt is home, but at this point, it's the fact that I was told it would be fixed this morning and now it's been lied about.

How could you possibly get in trouble for changing a light bulb? You have everything on your side as far as it being a safety issue.

If Matt does change it..... let mgmt. know and tell them you'll deduct the cost of the light bulb from your next rent payment. Tell them you won't charge for labor.

:)

Pfft. I'd charge for labour too. :ninja They had their chance to do it themselves.

I know. I just didn't want to sound too greedy and get mgmt. all pissy and such. Although.... If it were me.... I'd do it. I'd even submit an invoice all official and stuff. Bwahahahahahahahahaha...
