Valentines is a great day. Its a day when supermarkets rolling in money by paying their staff minimum wage can make even more money by doubling the prices of chocolates and flowers and watch guliable people still buy them.

We will go out to dinner tonight instead of tomorrow night. Tomorrow night, I will grill steaks and we will stay in. We don't do flowers because they jack the price. We agreed to really cut back on things of late but yes it is very commercialized. It is also the MIL birthday. My mother mourns every V-Day because it is the anniversary of my Dad's funeral.
I believe that it's just a day for people to be more creative than usual. Otherwise I believe that people should show how much they love their SO all the time not just once a year.
Not the only one, Valentines day was about some massacre, yet turned into a day of slobbing around each other

I like Valentines Day because it gives us a reason to go out and do something fun. We don't do the typical flowers and chocolate thing but we do like to go out to one of our favorite restaurants and buy each other a little something.
I know that probably means we are giving in to commercialism or whatever but we spend the majority of the year trying to be good with money and find ways to spend time with each other without getting out the wallet. It is nice to splurge every once in awhile. And it just happens that our birthdays and major holidays are spread out enough that it makes the most sense to schedule our splurging days around them.

It's fine with me if people like celebrating it and doing something nice.
What annoys me is when people take it to the extreme like other holidays and get all pissy after trying to make it something it isn't.

I don't care for it, I never do anything special on it anyways. It's just another holiday.
I like Valentine's for the chocolate. I really don't care much about the romantic stuff, just as long as I'm at Walmart the morning of the 15th to get 1/2 price candy.
There should be a film called "Cynical Me" and I'd voice act it 
I also love watching the kids at school give each other little Valentines. It is hilarious to hear middle schoolers talk about dating too. :24:

I love Valentine's Day! My hubby first announced to me with a Valentine's Day card that he was hot for me when we first started dating. The second Valentine's Day he got me a dozen red roses and a watch. We went on a date and well..... let's just say he liked my Valentine's Day card and gift too. 
We get each other a card each year and go out to dinner. The usual hang out. And we do tip good.
Sometimes, I'll make a candlelight dinner instead. If it's a weekend! A weekday work day.... no way!
