Woman dies after cosmetic treatment

By John Fahey and Diana Pilkington, PA

Wednesday, 9 February 2011

A British woman died after travelling to America for a cosmetic buttock treatment.
Claudia Adusei, 20, from London, suffered medical complications after the procedure.
She travelled to Philadelphia with three friends and had injections in her buttocks on Monday.
But she began to suffer chest pains and had trouble breathing.
She was rushed from her hotel, the Hampton Inn in south west Philadelphia where the treatment was carried out, to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby.
Today, the hospital confirmed Miss Adusei's name, age and that she was from London.
The young woman's death has sparked a police investigation.
The results of a post-mortem examination by the Delaware County medical examiner's office have not been released.
Detectives are now looking for those who carried out the cosmetic procedures, which police said were arranged over the internet.
"We're not quite sure right now if that person performing that procedure is licensed or unlicensed," said Lieutenant John Walker, of the Philadelphia police south-west detectives division.
"We're still working that information right now."
Lt Walker said investigators were also awaiting test results to determine the substance used.

not so funny. a major problem, in fact.

there are supposedly silicon parties where transsexuals inject each other with silicon. apparently there have been a fair number of fatalities.

I'm sorry, but anyone getting cosmetic surgery to his or her ass at the age of 20 doesn't rate as someone with alot of values or intelligence in my book.
no need to apologize to me, especially since i strongly agree with you there.

despite the dumb asses that are getting all this plastic pumped in them, there is a burden on society occurring behind all this is what i was trying to point out.

There are way, way, way too many young women out there seeking to improve / enhance their apperance, it's disgusting and rather worrying that society / fashion mags, etc. have such a HUGE impact on their train of thought.

If these girls want a, but lift, bigger boobs, flatter stomach, slimmer legs, etc. they can work at it by following a healthy diet and toning up and / or they can eaisly go to the store and find something to help them. There's plenty of things out there they can use / wear; from lip plumpers to body-enhancing underwear.

ok so make up and other stuff is this improvement? bra that make the boobs look bigger or fake eyelashes or fake nails ..and so many other....everyone does it one way or another ...is this mean feeling low too?

what does it matter if this can became with surgery or put all the other crap that is out there everyday..

just the only is when someone choose to go and fix something with surgery best is to do a lot of search and see the most best way and safe to do all this ..

Yeah, but toning up and eating healthy goes against the immediate gratification train of thought every girl and boy has these days. Technology makes things faster like the drive-thru window, dieting pills, and cosmetic surgery, but is it worth the trade-off? It seems as technology advances, common sense dwindles.

It is sad to see women who think the only way to 'improve themselves' is to get cosmetic surgery, beauty is skin deep

I've got a good friend of mine who is a wonderful human being on the inside, book-smart, lives a healthy lifestyle, etc. but she has always had an extremely distorted vision of her breasts.
...At 21 years of age, she went and had a breast enlargement done - she didn't go for the Dolly Parton look or anything like that, she went from an A cup to a C cup. She gained some confidence because of her plastic surgery but she's also paying severe consequences years later.

I was chatting with her the other day and she said, "If I would have known then what I know now, I would have never had them done - My health is far more superior than having a pair of fake tits".

Sometimes I think the issue goes beyond 'common sense'... Sometimes I think it has a genuine impact on how a person sees themselves every time they look in the mirror.

I just wish some people would see in hindsight of what happens to them, even Pamela Anderson had the same problems, yet still girls want to go under the knife
