When I was 16-17 I liked skateboards and boys lol. That Barbie castle cake is from a show?

Yep, they're running this series over here called 'Big Fat Gypsy Weddings' which takes a really interesting look at the traveller, ie. gypsy communities we get in the UK. The most fascinating part is their approach to relationships - like I said, they get married very young, the women don't drink before they're married, no one has premarital sex..... but the girls all dress like hookers and they have the most incredible overblown weddings, with dresses that weigh several stone, and elaborate cakes.

It's really really interesting to watch, I've never seen anything like it.

It's all on youtube in their TV Shows area, 3 episodes so far, which is how I've been watching it - I don't know if you can access it the same way?

Lemme check.

It always interests me to see the way people live their lives. What boggles my mind is WHY they live their lives the way the do (in cases like this). I mean, I understand cultural and religious reasoning, but we're in a day and age where people can break away from the lives their families have lived for so long. =/

Anyway, sorry to go off topic lol.

My missus is an Aussie and finds it hard to understand the pikeys. I dont get them either, it's an outdated culture that needs to be got rid of imo.

It's a bit odd, how traditional they are in some senses, but entirely modern in others. Though when I say modern, you could take that to mean 'trashy'.

Their version of modern is "Katie Price". None the less it's good entertainment watching them spend a fortune to look like trash.:thumbup
