Anybody use a light for SAD ???

Let me know how it makes you feel when and if you feel a difference. I thought about getting one a couple of years ago..... but didn't.

Starting drinking instead. :D

I dont really understand after reading Wikipedia

maybe i have something like this. I have a hard time sleeping at night time but sleep better during the day when there is sun light? I dont get depressed about it tho.

I dunno. Maybe I just dont really understand

Those prone to depression can suffer worse during the winter months when there is less sunlight. Hence the need for this special light to aid in getting whatever it is the light provides to chase away the blues.... so to speak.

Haus I don't know if I have it but I am so damn fatigued and depressed it was worth a shot.

The only thing that might lean me to think I don't have it is that I am not a whole lot different in the summer.

The place I ordered it has I believe a 60 day return policy so within that time I will know if it helps.

Well I hope it helps you. I guess youll find out when you get it :thumbup

but if you would turn it off, would you get depressed again instantly?

If you read the article it kind of explains it. The body absorbs the light. Thus the reason SAD is more prevalent in areas where there is less sunlight or a lot of overcast days.

It is kind of like taking a vitamin. Nothing immediate happens one way or the other. I suspect if you stopped using the light it would take a few days to see things revert

No. It's not like that. You use it a set amount of time each day for the months without a lot of sunshine to get you through those 'darker' days.

Your body must absorb whatever it provides just like the actual sunshine during the summer months.

I wish I could remember everything that my doctor said when we discussed it back then. I wish I would have listened to him and bought it back then too.

Thanks :thumbup

I will let everybody interested know in a month or so. or less if it starts to help.

The depression is bad enough. I got plenty of reasons for that but the damn fatigue is just getting out of hand and that would be a huge relief if it helped with that

No being a smart ass here...

But have you considered working out? It is a great natural way to curb depression. Just getting up and getting active makes a huge difference.

Then there is skin to skin contact. When you have skin to skin contact, it releases chemicals in the brain that work as well if not better than anti depressants. This can be tough when you don't have anyone around willing to get naked and lie next to you, but even paying for a massage will be beneficial.

I am well aware of what working out does. One reason why running used to be addictive for me. It gets the sertonins kicking into gear.

If working out was the answer I would have been cured long ago. It helps and I plan on getting back to the gym and walking but it does not do a fraction of what I need.

Tis a lot more to this than just a simple bit of the blues.

Thanks for the input anyway. Not bad for a............ li........:D

My paramedic brother bought one last year for his 13 year old son and they swear by it. Living in B.C. during the winter can have it's negative effects considering the amount of rain we get. It's a proven fact that sunlight improves a persons mood and the light mimics sunshine and tricks the body into thinking the sun is shining upon you. It makes perfect sense to me.
