Yeah, this is the real problem with welfare imo. The current system in the US takes away motivation to work. I am told some people can make more money on welfare than if they work. That should never happen. It's a sign the system is broke. If someone gets a low paying job then take away some of their welfare but make sure it's still in their benefit to work.

I can't help but agree with that. I have a neighbor who has 3 kids and is on welfare....her husband isn't suppose to live there but he does and together they bring in more money than I do....is this how they motivate people to work?

Same here, and like you I have been admin on one and it's not an easy job, but it's easier to just do the authority thing than let people have it out.

You know what? I feel like I'm on a merry-go-round with you, as we're simply not seeing eye to eye. :)
Being an admin is easy. It's the running around and policing of everyone's words that's wearing you down. Get back to basics, darlin'... enjoy OTz.

Take a page from the book of Maulds.

I am falling more in love all the time. In a nettish way of course. I got a thang for smart women. :D

I haven't waded through all of it, but I am of the opinion that it is not my place, nor any of the rest of the staff's, to air another member's laundry out. For the same reason a teacher takes a student out in the hall to reprimand them- it's not meant to be done publicly and it's not intended to be an embarrassment thing.

If those members want to tell their stories, that is fine. But I don't think it's right for someone else to put that out there. Just my opinion, of course.

As for us working for y'all, well, we are kind of "elected officials" so it makes sense. If something needs doing, or someone needs backing up, that's what we do.

Well said, but you werent elected, you were chosen.;) An election is where ALL members of the "community" get to vote, and have a say in WHO is elected.....big difference...

although, in saying that....you would have definitely been #1 on my ballot paper:):thumbup

I understand what you're saying, Hotty. However, when the membership see's "On Probation", or, "Temp Banned", or "Banned" under a members user-name, the rest of the community is going to question it. That's human nature. Not to mention, in communities, such as this, people establish relationships...so, who's to say that some of the posters in here haven't been asked, by the banned, to post for them? Just food for thought... ;)

That's like the fatty part of a steak... I'll be chewing for a while. (And on a not entirely unrelated note, I am now really craving red meat.)

I guess that could be the case, and I guess we have had members come in before and post "So and so wanted me to tell y'all blah blah blah".

So touche, GDW, touche.

You would not make a good teacher :D

A good teacher would reprimand the kid in the hall but ALSO go back in the class and make sure the students know what the unacceptable behavior was.

Interesting that you use this analogy as some of us have alluded to there being instances where some were treated like children ;)

Actually, a good PARENT would make sure their kids knew what unacceptable behavior was instead of expecting the child's teacher to instill those in them, IJS

Personally, I don't give any thought to "being treated like children" complaints b/c not one of you will step up and give specific examples. Not only that BUT when members act like children, damn right I'm gonna treat them like children. On the first page of reported posts right now there are AT LEAST 4 reported posts that are simply reported b/c the member reporting it doesn't like what the other person had to say. Not b/c it violated any rule...just b/c they didn't like the subject matter or the content of the post. For those of you that are confused, this is NOT the purpose of reporting posts.

No, we don't expect everybody to get along, but I really don't think it's much for us to expect people to act like adults. Ryder is probably one of our youngest members yet he's infinitely more mature than a good 30% of the board...mods included, sometimes!!!
