Beach Boys Pet Sounds. Paul McCartney himself said that without that album, he and Lennon would have never pushed their own limits to make Sgt. Pepper.

I was going to say "Sgt Pepper" because there was music BEFORE that album and then music AFTER that one. It was like the BC/AD moment in rock music history. But you make a good point.

although not my personal favorite, Dark Side of the moon.....

DSoM is a definite yes.


Personally, I'd go with "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis. It did for jazz what "Sgt Pepper" did for rock.

This question is tough because it is hard to not choose what album is relative to when you were growing up. Personally I would say Nirvana nevermind had the most impact on my life, but Bob Dylan's highway 61 revisited is the most influential album of all time.
