I always thought Steven Tyler was better, then again I always thought Areosmith were. No Bret Michaels in the top 30 shocks me.

he's good. Eddie Vedder is far better tho, and considered by many to be the best voice in rock since Jim Morrison. I agree with that.

I do like Gun and Roses stuff, though not a big massive metal fan, he is good but imo from where I stand in my love of music, not for me. Though not in this genre and not overly popular I think Ian Curtis is better by a mile

Depends what they mean by greatest - success? stage presence? singing ability? A combination of all these? Either way, there are a lot better frontmen than Axl Rose!

Pesonally, I like GnR. Not sure I'd have him as #1, but I'd have no problem with him being top 5.

I think the top spot has to go to Freddie. The only legitimate other choice would be Mick.

If we're talking singing ability, Axl Rose makes my ears bleed and my brain shrink a little. Anyone suggesting Axl Rose is the greatest anything other than screecher makes me wonder the amount of drugs involved.

I really like GNR especially when they first came out but I wouldnt list him as number 1. Like Sam said I can see him in the top 5 but #1 I don't think so. Maybe if were still in the 80's I can see him as number 1. I personally like Plant and Paul better. I also think that Ozzy should be up there.

That list is a joke

no Marvin Gaye

no David Bowie

I could go on and on

the people that voted probably are all under 25 years old

"Lead singer" would seem to infer that the person is a frontman of a band. Both Bowie and Gaye were solo artists.

However, I do think that it's bull that Stevie Nicks is the only female on the list at 24. Ann Wilson should be on the list. I saw her a few months ago and she STILL can go from ripping the wallpaper off to a lullaby in the blink of an eye.

I'd put these guys ahead of him in a heartbeat

Steven Tyler
Steve Perry
Freddie Mercury
Mick Jagger

I'm fine with 3 of the 4 of those.... but Steve Perry?? Journey?

Don't get me wrong- I got nothing against against Journey. They were huge when I was in school. Steve's got a great voice and all... but as a front man?

Axl, Tyler, Mick and ESPECIALLY Freddie you couldn't take your eyes off them. Steve Perry... good singer. But stage presence?? The mic stand had more personality than he did. :24:

I saw Jouney in concert back in the 80's and they really sucked. It was one of the most boring concerts I've been to. Their music was good but he was boring...

I've never actually seen them live... I based that off of some videos I've seen of them. Apparently those were the exception and not the rule. :willy_nilly:
