Is yours real????????????

I love our artificial tree. It will be celebrating it's 12th season this year and looks as beautiful as the day I got it. It was on sale for $120. - Down from whoppingly overpriced sum of over $400+ back when Frank's Nursery closed their doors. She's 7ft and 1800 points. She hardly sheds (kwx3) and fits quite nicely into two large storage containers in the garage. I'll be putting her up soon enough.......

We used to get real trees. But, for whatever reason, they never smelled pretty. Too far a drive down to Florida perhaps? That's the bonus of a real one right? The smell of fresh pine permeating the living room. Plus you toss it in the recycle when you're done which seems sad for the tree. Tho, as PS & I used to just put them in our backyard as habitats for lizards & birds.

But to pay the price for a tree that didn't smell seemed worthless. When I saw that tree on sale I knew I could pay once and she's still going very strong.

If I want pine smell, I burn a pine candle ;)

Honey, we've never been properly introduced but I suspect you're a treasure, I adore you, thanks.

Mine is 7 ft....it's a pre-lit tree with over 400 tiny little white lights and 1700 tips...whatever that means...lol...it was on sale for 139.99...regular price was about 300....I got a deal, right?

Put it up and see. You might just love it.

You're right, when my daughter gets home tonight we're gonna set it up, I even bought some new ornaments for it...lol...we're going silver and ice blue. This is way new for me because up until this year all of the ornaments on my tree were home made by the kids and since they were usually the ones who decorated it every year, it was chaos...lol..but at the same time magnificiant. I'll miss the old way, but I'm also excited for the new....I'll keep you posted.

You did get a deal Sadie.

Ours isn't lighted. PS is the LightMan. For the past two years I have let PrincessBooBooButt (our 12yr old) really help w/decorating it. I gave up my control-freakness about it and now she has fun putting ornaments where she thinks they should go. She's chomping to have me put it up yesterday...:willy_nilly: Maybe tomorrow, perhaps next weekend... I've still got Autumn decorations to take down.

Another cool thing about a fake tree is you can leave it up much longer. I usually don't take ours down til at least the second week in January. Cuz it's so pretty and the glow of the lights makes the living room quite cozy. PS is pretty tolerant, tho I don't think I could push it to Valentines Day :24:

Tempting, but no.. I try to remember the longer it's up the more exposed it is. It's safer in the containers. Yeah, that's it..... sure it is...

Pink for Valentines
Green for St. Patricks
Pastels for Easter
Red, White & Blue for the 4th of July
Orange for Halloween/Thanksgiving

Where would I stop... :24: That much handling and it might end up a pile of fake needles on the carpet in no time.:eek

Tho the cats may enjoy it. It is their domain underneath the tree. The way it's branches are put together they can't climb up the middle so they're content to hang on the tree skirt and peek out at the world or play w/the unbreakable ones we hang down low for them.

Silver & Blue is a pretty combination.

I think so too, it'll be fun to try something different this year. When my Lucy was a puppy, it was almost impossible to keep her away from the tree, my daughter and I made a white picket fence to go around it a few years ago, we cut out the pickets, painted them white and then drew christmas scenes on each and every one of them, and then we painted them together....later we put hinges between them and it not only did the trick with Lucy, but it looked pretty as well, and it was definately a conversation piece. Those memories will always be precious to me.....kids....they grow up so damn fast...lol

We had real at home till I convinced them it was a waste of a perfectly good tree...

Then mom got a predecorated one when KMart went out of business... she used it till 2 years ago....

We have two prelit ones, on is 6' with white lights and the other is 7' with blue lights... We love them. The 7 foot monster is the one I am going to be using this year... I just have to go get it out of storage.. which I will probably do tonight..

I miss K-Mart....

We'll be using a fake one this year. My family jokes that they're going to disown me for it, and I feel that it's not the same. But we live at the end of a long hallway on the third floor of our apartment building, and I don't see it as feasible to ask Troy to bring a full on Christmas tree all the way here. I'm sure half the tree would end up on the stairwell and hallway anyways. It'd be naked by the time it got here..lol. I can understand thinking that a real tree is a waste, but it's already been cut down anyways. Troy's parents planted their Christmas tree from years ago outside of his bedroom window on the side of their house. It's the Abbey tree now. They put huge decorations and fake presents underneath it last year for our daughter. I'd love to do the same thing one day when I have a house and a backyard. It'd be like a memory type thing.

But anyways. We're going fake this year. Found a really pretty looking 7' Douglas Fir at Walmart (pre-lit with colored lights) for like 80$, so I think we're going to get that next weekend. It has like 1500 points on it. I've been itching to get our apartment decorated. It was always tradition at my parent's house that we decorated the inside/outside the day after thanksgiving and then got our tree a few weeks later and decorated it that night. It's weird starting my own traditions with my little family, but I'm trying not to get all control freak on Troy..haha
