rave about it here

i am so sick and freakin' tired of wading through page after page of threads all over the flipping web of a whole mess of otherwise seeming intelligent and well-adjusted people pissing and moaning about the most insignificant little things they hate.

what irritates the living shit right out of me is that the whine fests are always the hottest threads.

first of all, to hate is to violate the prime directive given by the Lord YHVH to my revered ancestor, MOSES at sinai.

he said LISTEN! GOD is ONE! IT's name IS one and you will love IT with all your hearts, souls, etc., etc.

you don't have to like everything but you do need to love it.

this thread is for shouting out your love about things. brag about your self, rave about something you think is fabulously wonderful.

we manifest our own realities. when the universe hears you gripe it thinks you like to gripe and delivers plenty of awful shit for you to gripe about. verbalize only the good stuff and i promise, you'll get a whole lot less bad.

i know from experience.

Uh oh...Dana, you're fucked!!!

Mark it down on the calendar, Tommy, but I actually somewhat agree w/ you. Whenever I find myself complaining I try to put a positive spin on it. For instance, a couple of years ago I went to NYC and DC. By the end of my first day in DC I *literally* had blisters on top of blisters. My feet were KILLING me. I was whining about it and then I got to thinking...maybe instead I should be thankful that I'm able to walk and GET these blisters on my feet. Some people aren't that fortunate.

I am? by who? I really need some right now.

I was talking about this...

So all those starving and suffering in the third world, that's their fault, right? Moaning too much, obviously. All those now struggling because of the banking crisis, that's their fault too? Cancer patients, yeah, they brought it on themselves, didn't they?

I don't think that was what he was saying at all. You're putting words in his mouth.

In my 34 years I have worked w/ some VERY negative people and negative people, IMO, tend to bring you down w/ them. I could be put in a FOUL mood just by coming in to work w/ some negative people. People who can leave their paycheck sitting up in the office for 3 weeks and not pick it up. How many of you could go 3 weeks w/o cashing your paycheck??? Yet they were one of THE most negative people I have EVER met. Their SO would bring them Dr. Pepper and they'd say "thanks, but I drink DIET Dr. Pepper"...then they'd bring Diet Dr. Pepper and they'd say "why'd you get me such a BIG bottle???" Seriously, nothing was right. And being around that and hearing it for the entire work day will drive you crazy and make you just as negative.

I'm only a couple of months older than you! Way to go! A fellow '76er :D

I do see your point with too much negativity. Sometimes though, and this is the point, it's more than important to gripe. It's essential for improvement. Most social change has occurred not through positivity, but through complaint.
