If I don't have anything planned the next day or getting up early, I aim for 10 hours :) Nine is good too. But if I have to get up early, I aim to get at least 8, which is manageable. If I stay up past my bedtime for that night, then I try to get at least 6 or 7.

I remember being in Spain and siestas were from 1-4...everything shut down...and those tourists who didn't understand the need for the closures....

it's still really common here. The town I live in now, which is a small one, everything is closed from 2 - 5pm, even in the winter. You still see confused tourists wandering around, lost, during these hours. They don't know what to do with themselves....

It makes so much sense I think. You work 5 hours in the morning, 9 - 2, then 3 hours off for food, a nap and a shower in the summer, then it's back to work for another 3 hours until 8. It really slows down the pace of life, makes the days seem longer and far more enjoyable. And it really makes you appreciate the simple things in life. Like napping!

Sounds so much more better than what we have.
