How cool is that?!!!! Eating right outta your hand. Well... fingers anyway. :)

Is it sad that it makes my day some mornings?

I love to see her out there in the paddock waiting...then I just wave whatever food I have and she flies right on over.

I walk around with a huge grin and sense of accomplishment after I feed them.

Sad? No way! No how!

I absolutely love the wildlife where I live. Ummm.... Here's a short story....

I was scraping the ice off my windshield after removing the snow that had fallen overnight. This was about four years ago. I looked off into the distance where I have a small woods that runs between my two parcels of acreage. There were about six or seven deer. I must have startled them when I started scraping.... sounds really travel out here on a cold quiet morning..... and that's what made me look at them too. I heard a snort and the movement caught my eyes. It was still a bit dark out..... but I could make them out just fine.

They stopped and I waited many minutes before I watched them run and jump off towards the valley where I knew many lived and flourished.

I swear to you.... Not five minutes after they left... gunshots rang out. Many gunshots! :eek

It was then that I realized it was November 15th. First day of deer hunting gun season!

That beautiful moment of sharing with nature just vanished..... *snap* ..... like that! :(

...... but I enjoy all the animals that venture onto my property. No hunting allowed. It's never a waste of time to take the time to interact.

That's my dad's birthday. Perhaps why I always remember opening day for slaughtering deer with guns...... Oh! I meant... hunting deer with guns. :ninja

To be fair.... If the deer weren't taken each year by bow or gun.... They'd be overrunning the area..... and most likely lots more would suffer from the harshness of winter.

It's just when I think of deer.... I see Bambi.
When I think of rabbits.... I see Bugs Bunny.
When I think of mice.... I call my cat and say sick 'em Dano! :D

You would just not believe the mice trails I see in the snow over the winter. Running helter skelter, hither and yon..... Luckily.... They stay yon and away from my house. :willy_nilly:

I find it fascinating when creatures like that which you'd expect to be too frightened of us humans come right up to your hand and eat like that. Nice shot :)
