I need some ideas

Get Mason jars and fill it with the dry ingredients for some recipes and attach the recipes on pretty paper with pretty ribbon to the jars. You can do cookies, brownies, breads, pie crusts, hot cocoa, soups... You can put them in a basket with crinkle paper, and tie it up with clear wrapping paper (cellophane?) and a pretty ribbon.

One year I did little samplers of flavored coffees from Starbucks. You could do mugs too with that.

I've seen the weekend getaway and i may just have to add to that :p

How about a weekend getaway to a resort nearby their place ( if they dont wanna travel far unless they want to.) One that has amenities for like a spa and nice relaxing massage for your mom and if your dad maybe likes an activity to do find that resort that includes both what they like for a getaway.

If not maybe a spa with massage for your mom. Sorry i cant think of anything for your dad :)

cruise: there are 50% off cruises nearby. Just have to watch for those sales ;)

The hand made part is intriguing. :humm:

Playing off Bryan's idea. My cousin once made a cookbook of her favorite recipes of people in the family and gave it out to everyone :)

My other cousin made everyone a kit of her favorite recipe. Minus the wet ingredients/perishable. Her's was a chicken mushroom fettuccine. kits was the noodles, wines used in sauce, etc. :D
