Damn sweet. I've seen 'em fly at our show back in the 70's & 80's when your country graced us with their presence. That is one magnificent aircraft. You're luck to have seen it fly today because they were retired from service in 1984. Too bad on the lousy sky conditions.

btw, I would miss a week of work to see one of those fly again.

These are the only two shots I have of them from our airshow way back when. I shot them using slide film and scanned 'em a few years back.

If one is bought by an American it will never come to Canada. The US has enough great airshows to fill the Vulcan's show schedule if it were to come to pass. That said... I would crawl a mile over broken glass in bare knees to see it. My papers to cross the border are in order. :D

now if i had only had that sort of light,i could really have done it justice
Yes I'm sure you could. If I were to get the chance today I'm sure I could get lucky with a shot or two.

Here's a couple of neat facts about that beast.

- It had a crew of 5 and only the pilot and co-pilot were provided with ejection seats. There were cases when the aircraft augered into the ground that the remaining three didn't have enough time to bail out. They kinda resented that little oversight. I wonder why.

- During an airshow somewhere the pilot did a upward barrel roll on take-off! Did you hear what I just said? On bloody take-off!
