No zoom what-so-ever. I just got right up on them. Is that any better?

:homo: Use as little zoom as possible. If you need to zoom, it's almost better to take the picture and then zoom in digitally.

The last pic is my favourite cuz they're purple. :D Do you know what kind of flower that is? The flowers look like petunias but the plant doesn't.

That's not to say that you should never zoom in on things. It's really a judgement call and there can be a fine line between whether you should zoom in or not. Just keep in mind that the more you zoom the more sensitive your camera will be to vibrations/shaking and the more light you need entering your lens in order to properly expose the photo. Either your aperture will need to be larger (smaller f-stop) or your shutter speed will need to be slower...or maybe a bit of both. :)

Zirc I'm using a digital camera with 3x optical zoom 5 mega pixels so theres not much adjusting I can do. And I never read the manual and don't have it anymore LOL! I found a site where I can download it but it's huge and I don't want to download it to see what settings I can change on my camera. I think I'm just going to wing it on you alls advice! :D

 Your camera adjusts its settings automatically when you zoom. But now if you zoom in and the picture comes out a bit blurry, you know why. You may not be able to adjust your camera settings but you can adjust how you take your pictures. ;) Good photos come from good photographers, not expensive cameras.

I did learn one thing about the zooming and that if you push it too far it goes into digital zoom instead of optical. I learned that by accident. I noticed that the more I zoom the fuzzier the pic comes out. So it's just a matter of taking my time with the picture and zooming in the right amount. Right?

 And the better you know your camera the better you'll know what that right amount is. It's not a hard and fast rule. What works with your camera may not work with a different one.

Oh and if all else fails, USE PHOTOSHOP! :24: :p

So the more pics I take the more I get to know my camera...

You know I installed Gimp last night and was fooling with it most of the night and haven't learned a single thing about it. I just can't figure the damn thing out! :(
