Why? Like I said, for a high level boxer to be competitive, he will have to gain the skills to be an MMA fighter, and after he gets those skills, he really isn't a boxer anymore, he'd be an MMA fighter.
Boxing is awesome and is an art and I am a boxer ibn some senses. However, if they don't take the correct steps than what is the point? Boxing stepped out as a community and talked their shit, all excuses are done. You want to fight MMA? Than fight MMA, you want to box? box. Here is the difference, not one top MMA striker has ever talked shit about the skills of boxers, not one thought they could jump in the ring and turn the boxing world upside down. Boxing has fealt threatened by MMA for several years and have as a majority, have talked a ton of shit in a very dignified and smarmy way. Boxing got it's reality check tonight as have and would any practitioner that is an expert in one art form.
For me it;s awesome in exponential terms, not only did my all time fav fighter win, but he put the stamp down on allot of people who have been blowing hot steam for years not having a clue what they are talking about.
