it would make sense, we sent robots to mars and have not set foot on the planet yet. Also, that took years of travel time so as the question of actually traveling from a galaxy to another it has to be assumed it is from some other technology than what we have developed. So string theory and worm holes is the best guess.

There was a really interesting episode of UFO files that explored that stuff... it was basically imagining the reverse engineering of an alien craft. One of the theories was a wormhole, effectively bending time and space and then making a hole through them. Anything is possible. Then there's the whole star trek theory of faster than light warp drive.

worm holes seems the most likely to me, if they figure out how to get the enormous amounts of energy needing to do it...

honestly, i don't feel the primary concern of establishing/stabilizing an inter-dimensional transversable wormhole would be power/energy.

the larger concerns would be stabilizing it( keeping it open), and making sure it didn't open to close to the event horizon of a black hole or a star not to mention time differentials

it is theorized that in order to stabilize or make a transversable wormhole we would need something called "Negative" or "exotic" matter which is supposed to have anti-gravitational properties...we haven't encountered it as of yet.

then there is the problem of not knowing where it opens up or connects to. poof youve just been vaporized by a star or sorry your being condensed into a singularity because you've been placed to close to the event horizon of a black hole
that would bring us to another concern ... time, considering that objects closer to a gravitating body "age" slower than one further away (an object traveling at the speed of light ages slower than an object at rest or a "static" object) both ends/opening of said wormhole would be in different states of "time", once/if you reached the other side (depending on where & when in the galaxy/universe it was located)...you may never be able to get back to earth as you knew it.

according to the laws/theories of general relativity and the theories of the Einstein-Rosen Bridge, wormholes are naturally occurring but only last momentarily and if you attmpt to "travel through" or transverse one...you would be pulled/stretched apart as they are believed to close/coolapse form the center outward

you can't even think about any of that until you've figured out how to generate the massive energy needed to bend space and time. If I remember rightly from reading about these in the past, it's been theorised that to open a worm hole you'd need the energy of several stars, at least.

ok..so you've just said that its not practical to try and make one ......we would have to try and harness/capture/use a naturally occurring one

How many of you all believe that in aliens, that is extra-terrestrial biological entities and not the kind you would find in California, Arizona, and Texas ;) How about UFOs?

Me personally, I'm a believer that we are being actively visited by beings from outside of our own planet. As far as UFOs go, I think that some of them are the craft being used by those beings, but a good chunk are actually secret military aircraft... primarily from the United States. I also think that there is a pretty decent chance that a lot of the technology we see today is as a result of reverse-engineering alien technology.

I probably sound crazy to a lot of you now ;) But what are everyone's thoughts. I think I've posted a similar thread before, but that was about a year ago and there are plenty of new faces around now.
Yes I believe it but what I cant understand is people believe a virgin had a baby and yet poo poo off UFOs...oh well who am I to question what some would rather believe.;)

This I also find interesting....

In the distant past, mysterious non-human beings were witnessed in Tanzania, East Africa. People saw them and recorded their presence for future generations in form of paintings. These paintings found high up on the hills, depict an extraterrestrial visitation and were created 29,000 years ago!

Really interesting stuff here... granted, it could just be mutated DNA, but worth watching.

that is a pretty interesting video, the website for it can be found here: http://www.starchildproject.com/

The wiki page is quite interesting too, offering some explanations to the deformities: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starchild_skull

But there's certainly strong opposition to the idea of it being anything other than a deformity:

Damned interesting nonetheless. I would personally think that the similarities to humans would negate the possibility of it being alien.

(The Thread Reviver Has Struck Again)

In my own opinion, I truly believe there is life beyond the stars and planets within our own solar system. Not due to the mathematical reasoning though. I suppose it is an "unconscious" sense. In my case, I just feel as if there are other lifeforms on other planets looking up into the sky as I do at times. Perhaps there is an unseen bond in that aspect. That is simply me of course. I suppose one can only keep their eyes open for when aliens decide to make their presence truly known to us. I simply hope that our first "true" contact with another world is one that shall lead us all into an Age of Peace and not an Age of Galactic Warfare. As usual...it is merely my own thoughts on the matter overall.

I picked the last option well because it was the logical choice. I believe in aliens. I disbelieve nor do I believe they may have visited us as no REAL concrete proof has been uncovered or disclosed. Things like crop circles though really make you think.
