Thanks guys..

There's a bit of a story behind these shots. Picture this if you will.

The tree that the bird is sitting on is right buy a pumphouse shed. Surrounding the shed and covering the ground about 18" high is a ground creeping vine. Somewhere among the vines on the ground is one of their chicks that just fledged yesterday. Sitting in the tree is two crows looking for a meal and the mom & pop birds are doing everything they can to distract them and / or encouraging the chick to fly away. It went on for the better part of the day and made for an interesting time. I doubt the crows got it because the chicks were so well covered but you never know. Those crows are ruthless.

I can do that in my own yard. :p Problem is my lens won't allow me to get closer than 12'. These shots were taken at that distance. Problem is they were under some very heavy shade.

all you need is a small wooden shed.....a bird feeding table...and patience...you site the table about 6ft from the shed window and keep it well stocked with food.....with that lens you could have a field day:nod:

I have no trouble getting close to many different kinds of birds but I don't want to shoot birds while they are eating at a table. I have feeders up and they attract all sorts of birds all day long. Oh, and squirrels.. tons of squirrels that are eating me out of house and home. I like my birds to be flying or sitting on a branch. What I really need is some sunshine. It's raining again today and it's supposed to keep it up through the stinkin' weekend.
