Didn't know where else to put this, but I think it can fall under politics.

This guy is growing enough food for 10,000 people apparently, on a 5 acre plot with some clever farming techniques and a whole bunch of idea for future city farming projects.

This is a really cool idea. Sustainable food supplies within a city.

We've got a farm in the middle of our town and I know of a few in the middle of London, there's even a nature reserve next door to Kings Cross station.

Ha! I'd not seen that, pretty cool. Though I don't understand, they're complaining about not making enough money, so they spend 4.2million turning the street into a temporary farm? They should've just divvied up the money between them, problem solved!

I like these inner city farming projects, good to see them catching on in London too :)

- hang on, a nature reserve next to Kings Cross?? Is it new? Damn, I've been out of Blighty for too long...

Several months ago there was an outstanding article in Popular Science (don't know if you read that) that claimed that highly efficient food growing facilities could be placed on the top of buildings in large cities. Or specially designed buildings for this purpose. Cost did not seem to be an issue, but I don't remember the details exactly.

The idea originated in France, I believe. I worked for an architecture company a couple of years ago and ran their website and blog - I ran a feature on this: http://www.verticalfarm.com/

Pretty cool concept, I hope it becomes a reality :)
