Not to be an ass, but some people would say you have a lens that does all the work for you, so what is the skill required?
I ask this to learn about it. I doubt I will ever get my hands on such a nice piece of glass, but I would still like to know incase I ever do!!
ok...now try focusing on a drop of water thats running down a leaf or petal![]()
when you look through your lens, it's hard to focus? can you use auto focus? or does that get what's in the background??
I swear I am not doubting your ability. I am totally ignorant about this. I want to learn.![]()
Janie O'babe what you can do in a situation like that is set your camera to " spot " metering. Then set your focal points to be just one. The one in the center. Never use " live view ", always look through the viewfinder. That will set you on your way but it's still trial and error from that point on. A sturdy non-shaking hand helps as well.when you look through your lens, it's hard to focus? can you use auto focus? or does that get what's in the background??

My camera doesn't even have "live view". It's kinda funny because whenever I ask someone to take a picture with my camera they look at the screen a bit confused and I tell them it's a real camera and they have to look through the view finder.Janie O'babe what you can do in a situation like that is set your camera to " spot " focus. That is the shot you should have entered in the contest. You would have received all the votes as far as I'm concerned. Well done Ian.
well...what was tending to happen was that the focus went straight to the tip of the petal,or on the background thats seen through the droplet.....both leaving the edge of the droplet blurred a little..a little trial and error and i got there eventually
gotcha. so you manually focus?
is it hard to meter for the light?
do you ever bracket? or do you just fix it up in photoshop?
