:homo: With birds, or any wildlife really, you almost have to take a bunch of crap pictures if you want to get that one amazing one. OH, and I'm going to add sports photography to that. I'll go to a hockey game and take maybe 200 pictures and end up with maybe 5-10 really good action shots.

Pfft, you have to know a lot of technical stuff about photography, how to get the best out of your camera to shoot sports and wildlife, someone told me...........NO EXCUSES, and I agree:D

Nope. It's not about the technical side. It's about timing. Unless you're REALLY lucky you're not going to get the shot you're looking for by taking just one picture, I don't care how good you are.

99% of wildlife photography is about luck, but if you want a good photo you have to know about photography

In your mind you have to know what kind of composition you want from shooting wildlife, would you want a blurry or underexposed photo or do you want something that is near enough correct, so you don't have to go back in order to get that same shot you were after. Being that if you shoot wildlife, it is an opportunity that most likely it won't happen again, so then you have to know about the technical side of photography in order to get a near perfect photo. So you don't have to spend hours on photoshop or other editing software in order to fix a problem that may not be fixed
