You mean like for the summer? Nah, I don't get paid over the summer as a sub or any holiday for that matter. :( Course we are going into June, as we had several days closed over the school year because of fog, snow, ice, etc., so we'll go into June a few days before the semester is over.

Do full time teachers get paid for the summer holidays? My friend is an admin assistant at a private school, and she gets paid for 4 of the 6 week holidays.

I'm not sure who you mean. I can assure you I'm 100% female and my name is not Cindy Lou.

I'm just messin with ya, I thought it was strange a woman calling herself a "lad"...

Cindy Lou was a shemale that posted here for a while....

WOnder what happened to her/him/it........

I'm not sure how that works, but you could be right that they get paid during that time. Well, since I been subbing though, I"m not sure if you knew, but I'm considering going back to school for teaching. Not sure yet, but thinking about it yet. :)

I dont understand the last part....are you a substitute teacher and thinking of going back to it full time? Or do you have to do some other type of diploma to be a full time teacher?

I'm a sub teacher and thinking of going back to school (college classes) to take classes, so I could be a certified teacher. Does that help any?

yes and no. Here, a sub teacher is fully qualified already, just not teaching full time.

Reasons could be they dont WANT to teach full time, or there arent any full time jobs (as in my area...everyone wants to live here)

So, they just 'sub" whenever they're needed. Sometimes it can lead to a full time position, but they are usually subbing for someone on Long Service or Maternity leave.

Oh, well here, you have to have a degree to actually be considered a teacher. A sub is just like a fill in for a teacher, whether you can teach the subject or not. I'm thinking about going into math, since I have a minor in that, so that's what I'm thinking at the moment. :)

Yeah, we have some of that here too, but sometimes sub teachers can just come in for a day for the regular teacher and you then could call that teacher a sub.

Bit different in a different places lol
