Is going to a strip club cheating?

I realize this is a matter of opinion, but is visiting a strip club (without your significant other) considered cheating? Does it make a difference if they go without telling their partner what their plans are?

Well, last night, I was talking to my boyfriend online and he just disappeared without any explanation. This morning, he called to apologize and explain that his friends showed up wanting to go to the strip club and he forgot to let me know he was going. Apology accepted, and I seriously didn't think another thing about it. When I mentioned it to a girlfriend, though, she said I was nuts for letting him get away with that and that going to that kind of place is cheating and it's made worse that he didn't even tell me he was going.

Like I said, it didn't really phase me (except for being slightly pissed at him dropping the conversation without explaining why, but I got over it quick). I was just wondering what other people's thoughts are on it.

I think every couple has different definitions of cheating. I wouldn't care if Matt went, but I know some people who would flip. If he had sex with someone else, I'd flip, but I know there are couples out there who are alright with that. You just have to sit down and talk to your SO about what's acceptable and what's not.

At worst, it's an extreme form of "Window shopping"

Although what I would say is maybe it should be discussed beforehand.

Those were my feelings too. I got a little bitchy because I waited for a response for an hour before realizing he must have went somewhere. I'm pretty bad about doing that to other people, so I couldn't be very pissed about it. As far as the strip club thing goes, though, it just didn't seem like that big of a deal to me.

You're right. I just got the feeling that my friend thinks, "God, she's so naive and stupid. He's cheating and she doesn't even care." It embarrassed me a little. However, I don't think getting mad at him because SHE thinks it's cheating makes sense. lol!

In particular the discussing it beforehand.

Personally..... If I ran into a friend who knew someone who had seen my SO at a stripclub... and I definitely do not want my SO visiting such an establishment and he knows it.... I'd be very pissed and humiliated. The SO would hear about it in no uncertain terms. He may not have been cheating in the physical sense.... but going after the fact would definitely put things out there. My wrath is quite engaging if released... :nod:

I worked at a strip club many many many years ago...DJing...and at first I thought it was gonna be cool...then i learned what kinda gals these "ladies" (I use that term loosely) are...that's the sort of stuff STDs are made of.
It's not cheating. it's no different then a regular club.
Now if he had gotten lap dances, well that another arena altogether
But I hear American strip clubs are much tamer then Canadian strip clubs, dunno how much truth there is in that though.
Canadian strip clubs are full nude. Americans are partially clothed?

And to be on topic, its not cheating if you ask me.
No different then seeing a naked woman in an R rated movie.

At least in Windsor

They clamped down on things in Detroit so they are both pretty tame now

I think it was in Hamilton where a cousin said it was pretty wild though

True, Generalizing wasn't fair. Again as I have no idea of the differences of American and Canadian strip clubs.
but the ones I worked around..(American and Canadian) were pretty harsh.
I don't mean "gross" by how they looked, they were very pretty girls, but dumber then stumps and willing to do anything for the white powdah.

But a night out with the boys getting their drink on at the strip club isn't cheating imo.
