Honestly there are a few moments that are close, but the biggest one is the easiest to recognize...

The memory of getting the news of my cousins suicide.

I am thinking hard Jim. I have lots of melancholy moments....when I hear a song that reminds me of my parents.....I find a card mum had given me and see her writing....

I think though that it was learning that my dad was near death. I was away for the New Year/Xmas break and had to come back home

I held his hand, and told him how much I loved him......I KNOW he heard me, coz a tear rolled down his cheek, then he died.

I will NEVER forget that single tear.

I know that one well. When I was 25 I got a call at work, "your dad is dead, suicide....can you come home now?"

Mine was over the phone too... spent most of the phone call talking about crap going on in my life with my mom prior to her telling me I needed to sit down...

Hearing that my nan had died and I was unable to attend the funeral
Hearing on the news that my ex girlfriend had killed herself
Hearing that a good friend of 20 years had killed himself by throwing himself in front of a train

There are a lot of stories about death in this thread. Mine's a little different. A memory that makes me melancholy is thinking back to when one of my friendships began. We were such awesome friends and it makes me sad knowing what it's become now. sad037.png
