I remember trying to do charcoal drawing in art class a few years ago. Trying being the operative word.

This one took me a little more then 5 hours to draw. I usually spend 4-8 hours. I like to do it all in one go, when I start a picture, I don't like to stop it. I get into an art zone, and time just flies by. This one felt like it took maybe an hour. They say the right side of your brain can't tell time, which is why it doesn't feel like anytime has passed when you are asleep or reading--or doing an art project

The other one took me about 8 hours, kids are tough because you can't make them to dark, because then they look older, but if you make the too light it turns out boring... so you spend a lot of time erasing, and starting over, and shading, and shading just a tiny bit, and re shading... lol

Eyes are the funnest part, I always do them first and hurry to finish the rest to see how the eyes look The hardest part on this one was definitely trying to make the shadows not just look like a big blob of dark instead of shadows, plus the hair, which is always the hardest part and still doesn't look right *sigh*

I only get bored when I do too much in one day, I never draw more then two pictures, even if I feel upto drawing more. And the occasional quick break to play a song on guitar hero never hurts....

Not really. I know him from a different forum. I don't like it when I don't know the subjects, that's why I spent at least 30 minutes finicking over whether I wanted to draw him or not, glad I chose too!

I actually liked the hair more before I played with it more... lol oh well, can't go back now, that's charcoal.

as with your first drawing this is very impressive.....what would be interesting though is if you could get some suitable materials and perhaps give the eyes some colour
