I was kind of hesitant too, but after asking a ton of question abouts its safety...I was sold...and the leaf pile isn't that bad now....

but it has a 3 inch thick pad between you and the engine...you do not feel the engine at all. you do need to wear goggles and ear protection....loud is an understatement....and the stuff it picks up is amazing...we did 15 bags today....God knows if we were to do the whole yard

WOW!! That's terrific PJ!!

I'm just too much of a baby when it comes to yard equipment. I have never mowed, used the leaf blower or weed whacked. Even with eye and ear protection, this is the one area I will not venture. I use saws, sanders, drills and the like, but no, no, no! No gas powered gear!
