I can tell you from experience that it will take time. It took me a good 2 years to FULLY get over my ex... Unfortunately the pain is still there sometimes, but it starts to fade. Just be strong. Go out and have fun! Try to remember there is someone BETtER out there for you.

It might sound weird....but remember her bad points, her bad habits etc. When I went through a breakup once I tried to do that, and it worked, sure I missed her but it wasn't as hard because I was thinking mainly of the things she did which irritated me. Sorry if thats not much help but it worked a bit for me.

You have to remember, hard as it may be, that life will go on, you will stop hurting someday and you will be happy again. It might feel like it, but it's not the end of the world. You have to make a conscious decision to survive this though. I got out of a four year relationship a few months ago where I was sure I was going to spend the rest of my life with the guy. I told myself I had two options- to let it knock me down or to be in control of my life. And I won. You just have to want it.
Al- I am so very sorry to hear that. I hope you can reconcile somehow. *hugs*

You both (tree fingers and froggy) need to remember to be kind to yourselves. Allow yourself to grieve for the loss, allow yourself to cry, be angry etc.
But, the sun will come up tomorrow, you will have to keep putting one foot in front of the other, and life will go on. There will be times you wonder how life continues, does it not know of the hurting you feel? And one day, you will suddenly realise it hurts just a little less than before... it's a long and often painful process, but one day you will learn to live with the pain and loss. And you will learn how to keep going. And you will learn how to be happy again.

It is the most difficult thing to lose the love of your life...I lost my husband in September to a drunk driver...so this has been a very difficult time for me....I am trying to find where I should be and what I should be doing because he as my best friend...we did everything together and had so much to look forward to....I know my husband would want me to go on and still love life like I once did and that is what I try to do day to day....the one thing I can say is that "LIFE IS TOO SHORT" don't waste a moment and if it is worth it to you fight for it and if not try and move on as quickly as possible because you will regret it if you don't and reach out to your friends for support!!!

When you loose someone u love, its so hard to let go of the memories, and you think ull never be ready to let go, but u never completely let go, memories stay, and they never fade, feelings might change eventually, when you are ready to move on, and move forward to find someone else.. You will be ok, eventually but just as right now, tears might help with the pain...

I am a believer in that everything happens the way it is supposed to.
I split with my ex in Feb 2007 after 4 yrs together and 4 months later he took his own life. Even though the relationship was bad I never got over losing him. When he died it nearly destroyed me. He was my first serious BF and it was a horrible experience.
2 years on I am still struggling, but the best thing u can do is keep yourself busy so u are not thinking about it. I threw myself back into education and it really helped me.
At first I couldnt eat, I felt physically sick, suicidal, and was constantly crying. But from experience time makes things easier.

i was with my ex for 8 years. been thur good and bad times. well i kicked him out 5 months ago and i'm still tryin to move on. it's really hard but like someone said, just think about negative about her/him and it helps sometimes but hes always runnin back and forth to here n his whore. i just dont get it... i keep tellin him what do u want from me if ur with her now so just leave me be so it'd be easier for me to move on and he was all like, if u bring boys into house then i'll try to get full custody of our kids. its just getting too ridiculous. he just want me to wait for him to come back whenever he wants. blah.
anyway, i aint lettin it to get me like that for 2 years. heck to the no. i'd just start to see someone else but at the moment, i just dont want to, for some reason. :/
