Where i grew-up we had issues with beavers, muskrats & turtles in our ponds. My biggest issue with creatures at the moment is when the temperature gets cooler armadilloes tear up my yard. Occasionally I have to dispose of an opossom if they start fighting with my cats.

Snapping turtles are the worst! We get them on occasion. I think they are usually just passing by because you don't see them for long.

As for the yard..... we had issues with moles on the septic field! Sheesh.... that was a mess to say the least. Not sure exactly how they were taken care of... but it didn't involve pot shots! :D

Well the Pikeys bake hedgehogs in clay and eat them, cant say I've ever tried it myself though I am partial to a bit of sweet and sour squirrel, :thumbup

Surprisingly, we don't get squirrels here. Chipmunks now and then. And of course the many stray cats from the farmers around the area. I don't mind the cats though... they take care of the mice population. :D

Chipmunks have now made their way into the wild here. Like the grey squirrel, they could soon be rampant everywhere.

Nice capture and nice to see em on your doorstep. A novelty for me, not seen them in the flesh.

When I lived in the suburbs, the only deer I ever saw were strapped to the tops of vehicles during hunting season!

Living in the country..... wow!

Atza my girl Fifi. :thumbup

Isn't it great when they show up. Everytime they come to feed in our garden they hear me trying to sneak up on em' with the camera so they bugger off.

Absolutely great! Sometimes I won't see a deer for weeks..... I see tracks around the pond and on the trails.... I know they're there hiding in the wooded areas... you can see where they bed down. Then they'll hang around in sight for days on end. :D

Like now!

I can't see myself putting on a deer suit that's for sure. However.... when I spot a deer or five... and I'm outside on the trails.... I just stand real still and quiet and watch.... I've yet to have deer run off right away... They usually stand about... tails up.... watching me and looking about.... Eventually they wander off into the tall brush or woods and I go about my walk.

Nine times out of ten, I'm the one to come upon them and startle them long before I realize they are there. That's a sight! Deer leaping every which way to flee!

..... and my heart beating faster from getting startled by them! :willy_nilly:

I think deer are beautiful, but dangerous. I almost hit one this week. I was on the phone with TD at the time too, so of course he got to listen to me freak out. Lucky for me she stopped before crossing the road.

That's one thing about country living.... deer/vehicle accidents are the norm. I've had a few close calls myself.

I look at the deer on my property at times wondering if they will be the cause of an accident.... perhaps even with me!
