Why Do We Die?

If we didn't die.... Where are we going to put everyone?

I suppose that's why eventually we all have to die. There's just no room for forever......

There is a line in a song by Slim Dusty that says

"As we are born we start to die its he who holds the tune"

Referring obviously to god, in which i have no faith in whatsoever however, I beleive that the moment we are born we start to die its a matter of how we use what we have and how much we use it that determines when we finish here.

Im betting Id be lucky to get past 60 and if i do im going to be one cranky deteriorated bitch *nods*

So, this is not the only question. There can be more:

Why do we have two eyes? Who determined thiss number?
Why a baby's digestive system is different from an adult?
Why do we die if we take potassium cyanide?
Why do we die if our body is excessively dehydrated?

Personally I'm looking forward to the time when we evolve into a pure energy state

Since we have no soul, I think it highly unlikely that we will "transcend".

Why do we have two eyes? Who determined thiss number?

No one set the number at two as there was no one around at that time. In fact just as multicell creatures were evolving there were multiple body shapes & types, it just so happens that the ancestor of most creatures had two eyes.

Why a baby's digestive system is different from an adult?

There are many changes that happen to babies as they grow, their skull knit together & their reliance on mothers milk changes, as does their ability to digest harder foods. This is no different to most mammals, except the skull, which is in pieces so that a baby can fit down the birth canal, one of the costs of walking upright.

Why do we die if we take potassium cyanide?

Cyanide ion kills all aerobic organisms by shutting down the electron transport chain in the inner membrane of the mitochondrion: it binds stronger to the Fe+3 in cytochrome a3 than oxygen does, preventing this cytochrome from combining electrons with oxygen. Basically it prevents Oxygen from being carried around your body & without oxygen your organs will fail & you will die. (I plagiarised this answer because I was not sure exactly how it worked.)

Why do we die if our body is excessively dehydrated?

Seizures - alters electrical discharges in the brain.
Shock - low blood volume causes a drop in blood pressure resulting in a reduced amount of oxygen reaching the tissues.
Kidney failure - kidneys are no longer able to remove waste from the blood
Coma and death - shuts down normal brain function which can be fatal

Spiders have eight eyes & the compound eyes of a fly give it nearly 360 degree vision, the octopus does not have a blind spot at the back of it's eye because it's optic nerve is connected to the back of it's pupil, while ours connects inside & then has to pass through the eyeball to get the signal to the brain.

Our puny binocular, limited spectrum eyes are actually pretty piss weak.
