Here's a poem I wrote

Empathy
Wandering through the night I ponder
Bearing pain that is not mine
There are times I cannot take it
How did I let it come this far?
Lost in darkness, it surrounds me
I’m in too deep. I can’t get out
I cry to God to heal the suffering
Of one whose trials I endure
I feel that I must share the burden
I make it mine; it cuts me deep
Emotions shatter, breaking through the
Wall I’ve built around my heart
My tears spill out; I can’t contain them
I release the pent up grief
I turn to God for my catharsis
At His feet I lay it down
He is my rock, my strength, my anchor
In his arms I find my peace.

Here's a random one I wrote last winter.

Ramblings
Sitting under the heat
At the arena
Watching a game
Writing a love poem
To no one in particular
Wait
A love poem?
Some love poem
It becomes this mish mash
Of jumbled thoughts
And brainless waves
Oh score!
I laugh at myself
As I am startled
At being spoken to
Must get water
I move to a warmer spot

I wrote this poem at lunch today. I went with rhyming couplets on this one. I am chipper about it. It's been awhile since I wrote anything. It's not perfect. Maybe I'll change some things yet. Comments and observations are welcome.

The Dark Side
I pause before this darkened room
I know full well it holds my doom
Weaving words through my despair
I raise my eyes and say a prayer
I sense it now, this deep abyss
But I step inside, I can't resist
Fear holds me back but still I go
Why I move forward I do not know
Hook, line, sinker, I'm going down
I'll fall so far I won't be found
Beaten at the hands of my own game
There's no one but myself to blame
Against this onslaught I can't defend
I rise to meet my end

*blows dust off thread* Geez, been awhile since I posted in here. :ninja I whipped this up last night as I lay pondering.

Falling Apart
I sit in my pew
I wonder, I stare
Then it’s time to go
And you’re standing there
Then it all falls apart
And I don’t know why
My sad heart breaks
As I walk on by

And life is good
We share a few laughs
Like I knew we would

This is an event
I can’t seem to recall
Time better spent
